I will be holding a Second Life panel at Eurofurence this year.

Whether you are new to Second Life or merely interested in what the hype is about or you are a seasoned Second Life veteran, I hope you will find this panel interesting.

After a short presentation to introduce you to what Second Life is and what it is about, I will then show you what you can do in this vast new world and will answer any questions you may have.

Afterwards, I'd like to engage into open discussion, where other Second Life furries can show off their favourite places and avatars or share their story of their latest Second Life adventures.

So, this will be a meeting full of information as well as a Second Life social meeting.

This panel will be held on Friday, 13:30 (1:30pm) and will last for approx. 60 to 90 minutes.

We will have a laptop and a beamer, so if you have any good second life related movies or pictures, we can show them. With any luck, we also should be able to log into Second Life and explore.

For further details, please see your Conbook.

Looking forward to meeting you in First Life,

 Fairlight!

Huh wow. This sounds fun.

I know quite a few questions. I hope having a laptop at the SIG will be kinda productive.

EF will have wireless, but access to Second Life will be blocked. The laptop I will have with me there will be the only way to get into Second Life, I'm afraid. This means that, while we can certainly have my laptop logged into SL, it's not possible to have everybody's laptop connected. And I think it'd be counterproductive, anyway, as everyone would just stare at their own screen.

Best regards,

I was thinking about showing how easy can be creating simple yet good looking sculpty things for Second Life. I'm not any professional builder or anything, I don't even sell my things, but I made few things for my friends and would gladly share my experience with others.
To be more exact, I would show how to make sculpty objects using Rhino 3D software and small and free programs called 3dm2sculpt and Sculpty Paint. I could model something simple (a glass for example) and then upload it to Second Life to show the final result.

Let me know what do you think about it, Fairlight.

Thanks a lot for the offer. I didn't see this post until now, tho, so had no chance to include it into the SIG.

In any case, the SIG ended up with 99.9 % SL veterans attending, who knew about all there is to know already, anyway, it seems. So, we ended up spending an hour setting up the network connection and watching textures load ^.^

A couple friends of mine did a panel like this at a con last year, and it went over well. if the schedule allows it, I will attend, as I am an SL veteran, and could add my experiences if needed.

I am not sure I'll be running the SIG again next year. We'll have to wait and see. The problem is that although I am a SL veteran, I kind of stopped using SL about 2 years ago, and ever since only log in once a month or so, tops. I am sure there will be more suitable people willing to host the event than me.
