International snack exchange - Stroopwafels
gwyndolium:
Don't worry cookie. If it gets this big as I think it's getting then a sip or a bite of different things will be what's on the menu. You can see it as tasting whine. It's not to fill your stomach or get drunk it's to socialise, get to experience new things and enjoy a good time.
Now I just got to see how to put this many people in one room and not getting confused!
Good idea to ask for a panel room or something?

We could do it like this: every person (or group) who wants to represent a country (or a region of a country) gets a table. You can set up your table in a variety of things you want to bring, and show and tell about your country: posters, photographs, a map, the flag, tourist leaflets of things you can do, contactsd of furry organisation etc. etc. and of course the food, which the others can try.
If you want you can stand by the table and explain/talk to others (who walk around like on a market or a fair) or you make it self-explanatory, or perhaps two or more people from the same country take shifts in presenting...
So you would need a big room and set single tables along the walls, while the center is free to walk, greet and meet.
If that evevt grows to big/official, we should prob. clarify the food situation with the hotel. It is necessary to point out that the purpose of the event is not to get stuffed, but the food beeing a way to share a bit of the culture, and the portions will be little.
I carried out this "International market" already a couple of times, it works quite well.
Of course, this goes way of the original personal "food exchange" idea, but as there are more and more people interested, I think it is a good solution to get organised.
