EF, Hotel and Germany about Ecig

(1/2) > >>

Dofain:
Hi,
I would like to know what's the position of Germany towards the electronic cigarette as well as the hotel/con.
Thanks

BigBlueFox:
It's a slightly difficult topic since even the legislation doesn't seem to be entirely sure over here. However, the common idea is that e-cigs are to be treated like real cigarettes, which makes them legal in smoking areas only. So, in most places, you will not be able to "vape" inside public buildings, restaurants etc.

Owners of restaurants, bars etc. may tolerate them, but don't expect them to. You'll most likely be asked to not vape inside.

Cheetah:
I can only second what BigBlueFox said. In many places, people have no idea what ecigs even are, it's still very new and somewhat exotic. Legislation is nearly nonexistant, and the tendency is to lump ecigs in the same category as regular cigarattes. You will probably have to get individual permission wherever you go. Even the estrel hotel does not have a clear policy on it, and depending on who was on duty, we got different answers.

Dofain:
Thanks a lot for your replies, guys.
Best course of action will be to act like with a normal cigarette.

MurphyFox:
There is a Smokers Lounge in the Estrel. I guess and hope E-Cigarettes are allowed there?

Murphy
