Discounted Room Block Exhausted

(1/1)

Cheetah:
Hi everyone!

The amount of registrations has totally surpassed even our most optimistic expectations ... and so did the amount hotel reservations. While the hotel is technically not full yet, we have hit the capacity of our discounted room block of 850 rooms. There are 400 more rooms, but these are currently either booked with regular guests or part of room blocks reserved for travel agencies and airlines. Which means, that we cannot expand "our" discounted room block any more at this time.

We hit the cap much earlier than we thought. One reason is of course the enormous rush of registrations. The other reason is, that over 200 rooms were booked as single rooms - much more than we had estimated. That means, we're effectively losing 200 spaces.

We are of course working hard to figure out, if any third parties would be willing to give their room block back early. This can happen, but it might take a while. We will make sure to send out an email to everyone as soon as new rooms become available. At this moment, we don't know when this will be, and how many more rooms we might be able to get, though. We will keep you updated.

What are the options?

If you have not reserved a room at the Estrel yet, there are a few things you can do:

* The nights that are booked out are the 23rd and 24th. You can still book the other nights. (At the time of writing, July 7th.)
* You can try and get a room at the Estrel through a third party, such as one of the big hotel booking portals and travel agencies. Some of them might actually offer pretty good deals, and it's a perfectly legit way to get one of the rooms in the room blocks that we currently have no access to. However, please make sure you REALLY read the small print for those offers - as sometimes travel agencies have clauses in their contract that they are allowed to overbook hotels, and relocate you to a different hotel at short notice. So if you decide to book a room at the Estresl through a third party, make sure that they guarantee a room at the hotel you have booked. Also, the cancellation and payment policies might vary. However, if you want a guarenteed reservation without waiting for cancellations, this is currently the safest option.
* The estrel is maintaining a waiting list. If you send them an email to reservierung@estrel.com they will put you on the list, and let you know when a room becomes available for you. No matter what other option you might also consider, this can't hurt. The hotel allows free cancellations until 4 weeks before the con, so we expect rooms to become available - but there is no guarantee.
* You can look for someone who might still have a free space in their double room and would be willing to share with you - or if someone with a single room might be willing to convert to a double room. The best place to ask would be our Room Sharing Board.
* You can seek alternative accomodation. There are plenty of hotel options in berlin, and public transport is usually pretty good.
