EF20 feedback (omnomnomback)
« on: 26.08.2014, 17:58:43 »

First of all big thank you for all the staff members that made this con happen. It's mind bogging how much time and effort is needed to run a convention like this and you've done a great job!

The new hotel was a big change for everyone and made the con experience different. Good things, plenty of space to run around, alltho the lobby can get a bit crowded because of all the restaurants and chairs - maybe the issue in the future?, rooms were very nice and with air conditioning, buffet was amazing and in general everything was good. Everything worked nicely.
The normal restaurants could have been somewhat cheaper, hotel would earn much more money if they didn't stick to their fancy policy, same with hotel drinks. They'll learn eventually :)

Furusit lounge was great as always, plenty of fans, air conditioning, febreeze, snacks, drinks... you name it. The cups in the holders? Great idea for people wearing paws :3 Drinks could use a bit more juice to get that nice flavor so it doesn't taste watered down :3 Other then that great job and as usual the best lounge ever!
I did notice the fursuiters hogging the drier system. Once the suit/head/paws was placed, it didn't come off until the owner returned, and sometimes that lasted a day or so, so not really fair to others. I take everything to my room so it's not a problem for me but some people can't and the racks have been full with dried suits most of the time.
In the next years there will be plenty more fursuiters so the lounge will get full soon, thing to look out for in the future too.

Convention itself, since this a new hotel and location it's quite nice how the things went well, at least from a bystander view. There was much more nice music this year; 80/90 and similar, kudos to people that organized that, really enjoyed it! Hopefully more next year ^^ Events I didn't go to but they seemed okay. Dead dog party was a step down tho since the layout of the hotel is different then Maritim and it didn't have the original charm of the open bar/dance combination + meh music. Last year it was great :3 Again small lounge nearby was a great idea to cool down the suiters, good job!

Okay so all together the con was great and ran smoothly, staff did a wonderful job and the only real complaint I have is regarding the pawpet show and the massive delay and ruining of the bbf dance. I know some stuff was out of control and some things cant be predicted and everyone did the best to fix everything and all the thanks for your effort but in the end, delaying everything for 4 hours because of one show that half the people don't really like on the behalf of the big saturday dance was a terrible outcome of the events. Perhaps Pawpet show next year should be placed separately in different hall if that is anyhow possible, or in the different time schedule with no other big events before/afterwards. Running two events one after another is a big risk of problems like this happening. 1-2am for the start of the dance was way too late and the whole delay thing made a lot of people miss the dance and kind of ruin the biggest night of the convention. If that could be prevented (big delays) then everything would be good!

So again thank you for your effort, everyone has done a great job and you guys are awesome for doing it! This year the EF brought an entirely different experience and it was great con! Looking forward to next year!

Thanks a lot for your kind words.

Let me add 2 things:
The Fursuit Lounge drinks are watered down intentionally. Their purpose is not to be a freebee soda source, but to replace lost water and eletrolytes onisotonic levels.

People hogging the fursuit dryer ? I call you to action: You personally start a movement in the fandom that shuns dryer hoggers. Go make it unacceptible to occupy a slot too long. Go create awareness in the fandom. Do not ask us to solve that problem for you. Because we simply can't if the fandom simply doesn't care.

People are just very forgetful ... there is a lot going on at EF, and it's very easy to forget you still have a head on the dryer.

Maybe a timer-controlled spring-loaded ejection mechanism that automatically launches heads through the window would help :)

Or hourly fursuit head auctions :)

If one sees a head that has definitely been on the drier for several hours, usually it is not a problem to just take it off and carefully place it next to the dryer.
As long as it isn't replaced to the far end of the room, or placed improperly (bending whiskers, folding ears) usually noone complains.

Of course there's always the risk that if you allow that, some idiot will just remove a random head that wasn't dried yet.

Well, my original plan featured the dryer spots fixed to a conveyor belt, which runs at 3 hours per duty cycle, and has an automated shredder at the end, to forcibly clear the slots after that time.

For some reason, people didn't agree with the idea.  ::)
