Sorry to hear that. But please also consider that the Lobby is a public space, that ist not only frequented by con attendees, but also by other guests of the hotel and by people wandering in to eat or have a drink. Also, there is hotel personell, and contractors walking around there. While I agree the number of these people is much smaller than the number of furries, I'd say there is a possibility your sketchbooks weren't removed by con guests, but by someone else.
Therefore, I'd say warning everyone about the furry fandom being unsafe is overdoing it a bit. I'd rather warn people that a hotel lobby is a public place, and therefore not safer than a train station or an airport, no matter how many furries currently run around.

We were in a lil corner, and around us at the tables were only furries. When we came back, the tables were still occupied by furries only.
It was only a matter of minutes. We asked around and noone saw anything....
So that's why we assumed they would turn up at Con Ops, eventually...which didn't happened.
