EF 21 Theme fitting props and clothing?
« on: 21.07.2015, 20:41:17 »

Dear fellow fursuiters

I could use your opinion and views on something that has been bothering me as for late: The theme, Greenhouse world---  Would you say it's more of

a) Fallout/Mad Max/ Last of us style post-disaster style world where survivors eke out existence, scavenging and reclaiming what was destroyed?

b) An expedition to a modern Pompeii/ Angkor Wat to study and cataloge the preserved wonder?

The reason why I'm asking is that I'll finally end a tiebreaker with two different styles.....torn leather versus exploration vestments.
Cheers

It's pretty much what last years pawpet-show was like.

Present day humanity vanished long ago, for one reason or another.
Civilisation signs, cities, technology have been overgrown by nature.
The new dominant species are different tribes of furries, in different own stages of cultural and technological developement.

( Much like we today as well have high-tech science in modern civilisations in some places (e.g. EU, USA, Japan),
pre industrial civilisations (central africa, himalaya), stone age tribes (living in our last djungles and secluded regions) )

While being staff, this is my own interpretation, and probably the direction the decoration is going. It's not an EF official statement. ;-)

In my opinion, you should try to combine both styles: make an explorer, but use worn out gear or substitute stuff.
E.g.: I will try to create a tribal hunter with cape and spear, but have computer parts as jewlery, and a batterd half broken flashlight at my side.

By the way: for that mentioned spear (which will be made of foam and latex milk, not to worry ;)), I planed to create a shaft that looks like wood, and a blade that looks like something recycled - I just have no clue what to make the blade look like. Just piece of scrap metal, an old gardening tool, a sharpened chain saw blade... Do you have any ideas? I want people to recognize what the blade had been originaly, so I look for something pretty obvious. Otherwise, it will just be a bone or flint.

I was planning on making a make shift bow thing with a quiver. But have the whole thing glued/permanently embedded in their sheets.
So they can not be pulled out, because it is essentially just a hilt and backends of arrows glued inside container.

Most likely I will buy a cheap bow, saw it off and embed the whole thing in to foam with the string attached to the other side with a wooden pin.

Wood bending is not such a forte for me that I would dare try make one from scratch.
