Well, I haven't seen this anywhere else yet, so for the Google Earthers, here's a placemark of the hotel :-)

And for those who don't have Google Earth ... have a look a the Travel Section of the EF web page. There's an embedded google maps applet which lets you zoom in on the hotel just as closely :)

I already added it to my Google Maps placemarks, so I'm all set anyway! =^^=

Actually, I've fiddled around some more with the Google Maps API (after getting the map on the EF web site to work, which was a royal pain in the arse, especially the polygon for the red highlights) and put up a nice little applet showing some of the infrastructure near the con site at http://husky.dnsalias.org/~doco/ef-hotel1.5/ef-markt.html (http://husky.dnsalias.org/~doco/ef-hotel1.5/ef-markt.html). Note that this is still somewhat a work in progress, but the most important supermarkets, cash machines and so on are in it already.

Actually it's a nuclear-hazard sign. But way to cool anyway.
Some people call McDonalds even McDoof(McStupid) or McDreck(McDirt).

Well, can you blame them! And, if you are an American coming over here, if will be such a change from the American McD's, which also are horrible... Hmm, maybe it's not that much of a change, really.

I usually call it mockingly a American restaurant.
For fast food I'd much more prefer the local snack bar, you know, those you'd never heard of before.
Or a good Shawarma joint (here in Holland they call it Shoarma, if I'm not mistaken it's Döner in Germany, right)
They usually serve food with taste.

Well, can you blame them! And, if you are an American coming over here, if will be such a change from the American McD's, which also are horrible... Hmm, maybe it's not that much of a change, really.
A Canadian friend of mine claims that European mcs are tastier than the American versions, and when I went to an Eastern European one (Lithuania) I have to say they did seem slightly less evil than the Belgian ones.
Could just be the change of air, though.

Why travel just so you can eat rotten ronnies? Better to get to sample local foods. Can always eat McDonald's when you get home (like how the first thing I did when I got back from Alaska was go to Tim Horton's. >.>)

Oh, but I do, this was just emergency food :-)
I love nothing more that try whatever stuff they eat locally. I've grown quite fond of pierogi in Lithuania, among other things, although I've never dared to try the zeppelins - those things look evil, even though I know they're little more than minced meat in a mashed potato jacket.

My roommate and I made a deal with each other when we arrived in Germany for our first Eurofurence and it still holds. If either of us even suggests eating at the McDonald's while we are in Europe, the other gets to smack him silly! :D

I was just wondering if the map of the local amenities near to the consite could at all be made into a .PDF file format for downloading at all?
I've got no idea if its posable or anything...so sorry if it sounds a silly question.

But surely, that would mean you'd be going to McD's all the time! The deal ought to really be that if you suggest McD, you -don't- get spankings, right? ;)
