Well, this is an exellent question.

Traditionally it has been that after the opening ceremony Uncle Kage, the self-appointed fursuit conjurer, is the first to travel the lenght of ceremony hall in his roach suit while holding the official 'furball', whence at the sight of it everyone will bow their heads and go "hoot" and proceed to put on their suit as fast as possible, usually well prepared under your seat. The first one to reach the stage in his or her fursuit will be granted the honor of being 'furball-zero' upon which everyone else then piles on. Usually this has not resulted in any serious injuries, so don't worry about it ;3

Seriously I don't think there are any restrictions on fursuiting. As long as you can show your face briefly when they ID you for registration / hotel room booking - then you can pretty much be in your suit the whole convention. This is however not advisable and can result in a serious medical condition. Fursuit as much as you want but keep yourself well hydrated, cool and rest a lot. Relax and have a fun time ^^'/

Thank you for clearing that up for a first year attendee.

I have a follow up question: Is the 'furball-zero' usually a fox?

All hail the fluffy furball!

On a more serious note, to avoid confusing a newcomer:

There were already fursuits in the foyer today.

As far as I am aware, there are no restrictions on fursuiting in the Estrel lobby.

In fact, I got asked by the bar staff if I have a costume, too, and they were very sad when I told them they'd have to wait until tomorrow to see it.

Ah, a good beginning indeed! Talk about a really really early early arrival! Oh well... as long there's fun involved, it cannot do any harm, does it?
