hi furrys this year ef is going to be my 1st and im really sacred i sould be getting my furry suit soon

My first time? An interesting experience. :) I admittedly felt rather lost, not knowing anyone and not knowing what to expect and how to behave and everything, but it was still fun.
But of course, that was a long time ago, and I think the con is more "accessible" to new people today, so to speak.

Oh, don't be scared. :) There's always a ton of workshops, SIGs and other events going on, so you'll have lots of fun stuff to do - you won't be bored. ^_^
Do you know anyone who'll be there, BTW? If yes, I can imagine that that'd be a great help; I know it can be rather daunting when you don't know anyone and are too shy to talk to others. But with a friend, everything's much easier. :)

And it's mostly someone there that is outgoing and coming towards you. And on the other hand most people become different when being in a costume. As for me I like acting when I'm in a costum but not if I'm not.

*noddles* That sucks about your friends. In any case, there's probably going to be a large number of UK furs at the con again, and many of them are very nice people, too. :)

Quit stupid. If they had been good friends they should no have done that just because you're a furry. It's a hobby or even a lifestyle but so what? Hiphop is one too. Right?

I hope linking to other sites from EF is all right. http://www.furmeets.co.uk/ (http://www.furmeets.co.uk/) is a website which lists most of the UK fur groups and when they hold their meets. If you click on the group name, a page about that group appears. If you click on the website linked from there, you arrive at that group's website. Also, there is http://www.ukfur.net/ (http://www.ukfur.net/) which is a site covering the whole of the UK, although it's mainly used for message boards. I am very sure there are plenty of furs living near you :) Your profile says you live in Northlot (I presume this is a typo and is meant to be Northolt) - in which case, you'll find loads on the LondonFur website as well as on UKFur.

I know enough Deutsch to get me in trouble and thats about it. Atleast I am trying to learn so Fick dich! If you find any offence in this post too bad because that little quote is very insulting to me. I know that most amercians come across as stupid, rude and crude, I am trying not to fit that mindset by makeing an effort to try and learn the lanuage of the country I intened to visit. So next time try treating all of us "stupid" amercians like normal people.

Somewolf, for someone who doesn't know you, this might sound pretty offensive. Please think twice before you post something like that, you're senior staff, so what you post here reflects back on all of us.

Okay, the only reason I'm not deleting this is, that the issue needs some explanation :) He was indeed not trying to say that you're stupid ... he was indeed just referring to Uncle Kage. When we invited Uncle Kage to be our GOH in 2002, he told us that (not surprisingly) he didn't speak any German, and was feeling a little bit uneasy what to say when someone should adress him in German. And being a man of goof humour, he asked us to teach him how to say "I'm just a stupid american, and I don't speak any German" in German, so he'd at least know a funny phrase to make clear he didn't understand, and be funny at the same time. The mentioning of this phrase has become a sort of running gag, and is in no way meant to be offensive to americans.
Now, to you personally, Jager, don't worry. If you think that Europeans think that Americans are all individually stupid, that's just a prejudice, and it's not true. Especially not for EF. Guests from overseas are valued just like everyone else, and in a crowd that is as international as Eurofurence's you're not going to stand out :) Just to give everone an impression, here's the list of countries that Eurofurence is drawing attendees from:

I'm very sorry that you felt you're being offended in any way Jager, if you put it in its context it's really quite harmless.
However I did not provide that context, my fault off automatically assuming people know about that story.
I hope I did not hurt your feelings too much, :-[ I'm really not out to create enemies here.
In fact, from all of the Americans I came across at EF I did not find any of them unpleasant or rude or anything.
Actually most were nice to be around with.
And the fact that some even take the trouble to learn some German, (I imagine a language quite foreign to most Americans) can only be seen as exemplary.

Well forgive me going off like I did, I try not do things like that but stress and other problems had me a little pissed. Sorry about the post as the cussing was uncalled for, For the most part I am easy going but I do have a rough temper sometimes.

if it was held in U S and A i'd have no incentive to attend... and no justification for a "business vacation" being in a foreign land makes it very novel and exciting to me, also alot of the furs that come to this con cannot afford the trip to america, i've asked a lot of them and that's the reason why many european furs have not been to AnthroCon and the like which makes me very sad...
Now, being in UK :3 still, may be difficult for those euro furs that have trouble making it to U S and A but... I've got family in London :3

My first EF was also my first trip to Europe so I was a bit nervous. Must not have been too bad 'cause I went back the next year and I'm coming again this year. Everyone I met in Germany was friendly and polite. Many Germans spoke better English than I, especially when dealing with airport and train station personnel. What little German I remembered from high school (from which I graduated before many of EF's attendees were even born) was enough to get me by. So, relax. I predict you will have a blast.

Well, if EF would be held in USA it couldn't really be called "Eurofurence" anymore, could it?
And since our friends from UK quite often associate themselves with the US instead of mainland europe... or wait, was it that they just can't organize? oh, no, now I have it: Germany is somewhat in the middle of the current attendees, geographically, the main orga are mostly Germans, and there hasn't been much feedback on non-german con locations in the last years when Cheetah asked for it openly. I'm sure theer is a FAQ for this, somewhere.

Most of my order stuff is army surplus, Custom knives, stars and firearms. I will also be recruiting members for the group Furs For Freedoms and takeing uniform orders.

This'll be my first EF, I did FC this year as my first con, went on my own, all turned out okay, kept myself to myself, but did meet a few good people, you won't catch me at any of the dances/parties though, unless i'm literately dragged in :p
I'm pretty sure there will be one or two people i've met before there, but no idea if they'll remember me :p The last London Fur meet I went too was about this time last year! FC was my first time with my suit* in public, but went okay, felt good to have a tail all the time ;)
*okay, So I only had a head a tail for FC but hope to have more done by the time EF comes around, at least paws :p felt a bit silly with my mits jammed in my pockets :p

Woot! I agree. I haven't been in my fursuit with other furs around, haven't had a good chance to go to a con yet, so this will be my first as well. But, I love fursuiting, so I am sure you all will recoginize me more in suit then out of it by the end of the con. :P
