Anyone who got a theme suggestion for the next EuroFurence?
-
I guess they already chose the next year's theme.
But if not I'd suggest something like:
Jungle. -> Deep in the forest lies something ancient cities with artifacts and jungle people + old tribes etc.
or
Retro. -> '60,'70,'90 neon lights, rollerscates, disco stu and such. Turn the '09 back in time to 90's ^_^
:3
-
Kisu, you forgot eighties' Hair Metal and Spandex suits... or wait, we already had these this year ;)
Jojo
-
How about...
- Space and Future?
- Hippies and Woodstock? (Yay, quite the opposite^^)
-
Turn the '09 back in time to 90's ^_^
Yay for Parker Lewis style shirts!
-
We could have a Viking theme or a Medieval theme xP
-
The 50th.. "Lets Rockn Roll" around the clock =^.^=
Rollers, Leatherjackets and Petticoats...
Harleys and Hardrockcaffee...
-
Ninjas...and pirates :)
-

I think FA United already have catched the Rock theme :P
-
Industrial, Technology & Science. A bit Scifi-like, but without space travel.
Could be modern or medieval (Alchemy, anyone?), with lots of bubbling colored stuff and experiments.
Might also be dark (like Shadowrun or Bioshock). Shadowrun having the advantage they already have a science/magic/nonhuman-creature setting :)
Pirates have been overdone a bit, hasn't they? I'd wait with this topic a bit.
*purrr*
-
My suggestion: Classical time travel "Back from the future", or mountaineering "To the top of the world".
-
for some odd reason the termanator theme had come to mind o.O
-
Well, I guess a "nerd"-theme would overdo it. ;)
What about "mad scientists"? (I guess uncle kage would be great at it.)
-
Hmm.. "Mad Science" sounds interesting. Can cover all the DNA and stuff'n stuff. Hmm.. MUAHAHAHA!!!
-
Ninjas...and pirates :)
. . . and harem girls . . .
-
What about "Mafia"?
-
Ninjas...and pirates :)
. . . and harem girls . . .
... and harem boys for the other 90% of the con visitors... :D
-
"Dream & Reality" :P
-
The Golden 20's sounded good last year. But I'm not quite sure anymore... ;D
-
Hello,
What about some asian / far east stuff? Asia should have enough mystical / mythological Creatures and stuff like Dragons, Tanuki, Kitsune and so on ... And maybe the hotel crew (at least the women) could dress up themself a bit in a Geisha style or so :D.
Greetings,
Murphy
-
The Hairless Master of Alcohol as Geisha? EEEEP!!!
*runs away!!!*

FC had asian kinda theme :/
-
How about Wild West? Or Superheroes :D?
-
"Dream & Reality" :P
Now this one sounds interesting, but I dont know how we'd be able to bring it up.
If everything else fails, you can fall back to Benny Hill, because that makes everything fun, let it be a disaster or a con!
-
@Fairlight:
Uhm, not the males of the hotel crew should appear as Geishas, only the females MIGHT appear so ...
@Kisu:
Why not repeat that at an european convention???
Greetings,
Murphy
-
ok if the 50th taken... then...
1880th, Steamtech!
-
YAY FOR STEAMPUNK!
All Hail Jules Verne!
-
The Golden 20's sounded good last year. But I'm not quite sure anymore... ;D
They were "Roaring" in the US, if that helps any.
-
@thygrrr:
Steampowered programmable calculations machines...
Steamdriven Spaceship..
Man with Bowlers at the controls....
everything made of brass, copper and wood... ^^
-

I wasn't talking about the US tho.
-
Well, how about a more Europe-tinted theme? Something specific to Europe?
-
Themes of the movies I would like to suggest :) Would go well also with the downstairs bar that seems dedicated to movie memorabilia :D
-
Yet another "Yay for steampunk!!"
I'd like that alot.
Jojo

Exactly! That'd be a really stylish theme. Just think of the possibilities!
( steam-punkifying 21st century stuff is fun, too: http://steampunkworkshop.com/daveveloz.shtml )
( or use actual steam age tech... http://steampunkworkshop.com/jay-lenos-1906-stanley-its-driving-your-own-coffin ... AWESOME! )

Yay for Steampunks ^_^

Steampunk sounds very interesting, too :)

You missed that one...That was back in 2004, when EFX: The Movie (http://www.eurofurence.org/EF10/) took over the JH Biggesee in Olpe, and is where Uncle Kage first said, "I am Chairman of the largest furry convention in the world, but I personally believe that the best furry convention is right here."
Cheers,
Southie
-
Steampunk is a good topic.
What about Cyberfurence? You know virtual worlds, artificial intelligences, stuff like that~
-
There was already a con with a Steampunk theme. Last Califur in May, 15th - 18th.
-
By this time it has become virtually imposible to come up with a completely original fur con theme. For many cons and most of the time it is little more than window dressing. You shouldn't worry if your theme is similar to that of another con in an earlier year. I don't recall anyone saying their decision to attend a con was based on whether they liked the theme or not.
so . . .
"EUROFURENCE 15 - BORROWING A THEME"
-
There was already a con with a Steampunk theme. Last Califur in May, 15th - 18th.
And? Eurofurence and Califur are two completely different cons in different countries, and even continents.
-

Califur and Eurofurence have such a small common attendee base...
I doubt this is relevant; and also; there were horror furry cons, movie furry cons, casino furry cons, ..., you name it, before and after EF 10, 13, 14...
-
I dont know if a theme based on a country would be something, like Germany-theme etc. just a thought that appeared in my head :p
-

I actually think that would be a pretty bad idea. Maybe something concerning all Europe, but not Germany (or any other country) only.
Edit: But at least the Jägermeister decorations wouldn't have been out of place then. <.<
-
It's EUROFURENCE. I think it is *the* singly most polynational con there is, especially considering its size.
-
Well, how about a more Europe-tinted theme? Something specific to Europe?
It'd be quite hard to do something like that since Europe's countries have different languages, culture etc etc
-
Well, diversity could be a theme in its own right, couldn't it? Europeans are diverse, and so are furries.
-

I kind of think that's a given at any Eurofurence.
-
Anyone up for the 60's music? XD Vinylfurrence
-
Vinylfurence
Nonononono, we had too many vinyl and latex suits this year already.
-
Pimps and ho's *smirk*

Nonononono, we had too many vinyl and latex suits this year already.
A note: There was exactly one latex suit seen in public, and that was for long enough to actively seek out SomeWolf, who told us that it was too much (face too freaky, tail visibly inflatable). What you may have seen was a number of people in bondage gear (but normal fursuits), and some spandex-based suits (all wearing more clothes than the female fursuits running around), so... yeah, no vinyl suits and no latex suits in public, sorry :) (please do prove me wrong, i was all over the place so may have missed some ;) )
-
I saw several. The BDSM Pony thing in the corsage, the Latex Doberman (at the dance, and otherwhere), and some guys in full bdsm gear at a room party (which is absolutely fine, given the fact that these things are private; albeit they had their doors invitingly open); some reptile dude in spandex (technically, it had vinyl [??] components and other skintight material; but the guy was actually moving elegantly and not in a pornographic manner, so he was very fine).
... Yeah, spandex is mostly okay (in my eyes!); latex or vinyl as the main components of a costume isn't. I don't mind people doing it, but it pretty much clashes with the healthy "weird but friendly" image the furry fandom is trying to build up. Outsiders are just way too prejudiced against these kinds of suits to make it worth risking making headline news in them.
-
Oh, I move elegantly? Cool - it seems I pulled it off then :).
Yep, I was the lizard guy (as well as a spiky husky, but that's something else entirely). I treat the lizard as a character, a lizard costume - not as a fetish suit. Some of you may know I'm not entirely uninterested in such things, which only goes to prove my point further. Non toony lizards are almost supposed to look like that anyway - if you could tell me of a different, effective, affordable, hard wearing and non potentially offensive way to do a 'realistic' scaly creature let me know! (Although, I never actually planned to make the lizard a whole costume, it just kinda happened.)
And it doesn't have any vinyl components ;). Anyway, back to the topic?
-

You guys have to try it every year, don't you. =/
@Topic:
What about Video Games? I think Video and Computer Games are part of nearly every furry's life. I already can imagine Mika as Samus Aran from the Metroid-series, lol. I especially would like a EF based around the old games from the 80s and early till mid 90s, before all that 3D-jazz was introduced.

You seem to be attempting to equal the larger rubberfurs community with a certain individual last year who did it entirely out of spite - what we did was rather different in that we actually went to SomeWolf directly with the intention of asking him if the outfit which Makenshi wore (which was covered by a long coat and far more family friendly than a wide range of outfits found throughout the con site) was acceptable. SomeWolf gave it serious thought and finally told us it was not, and we went peacefully back to our room. In short: Please don't put us in the same box as Rapido.
Aaaand, back on topic :)
Video games indeed sound like a good plan, i for one would enjoy seeing what people come up with for that :) A large number of fursuits are already computer-game based, and i'm sure we may well see a good bunch of StarFoxes, which would be quite fun in itself, but i'm sure people would be able to get a lot better ideas than that as well :)
-
I think a video games theme would be fantastic :D
-
A question out of curiousity, have there been any FurCon that have had a Celtic theme?
-
I think so... but how about... Vikings!
-
Pirates! Arr!
-
I think a Celtic theme would be neat.
-
End time like Mad Max or Fallout theme! ;D
But the Steampunk also sounds interessting!
-
I think so... but how about... Vikings!
Mead for everyone! :P
-
So, what about Super Heroes/Villains? =D
Edit: I'll be honest, Super Swede's nickname made me think of that, lol
-
lol, why not have a theme dedicated to me? x3 J/k :P
have to say I'd like a Super hero/villain theme, mainly because I'm a fan of the tv-series "Heroes" :P
-
How about "A whole new world"?
-
Disney-theme! :D
-
Disney-theme! :D
.o0(Minefield)

. . . and harem girls . . .

my suggestions:
- Africa
- Danceclub

Andy Warhol once said "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes".
Eurofurence 15 - Fame and Furtune (Fortune) :)
-

Then make it "Eurofurence 15 - Your Fame and Furtune"

The Africa theme idea sounds good. Imagine the kind of pawpet show they could make with that! ;D

Disney have already done it...It's called The Lion King *hides* ;D
Cheers,

-
Well to be honest I just love African themes... especially their music. I don't expect the pawpeteers to start playing African drums, but you'd still get a big <3 from me if you went for this!
-
Some kind of nature/wildlife theme. Yes furries are anthropomorphisised, but they do have an animal side. It might be nice to focus on that.
Besides, it gives you an excuse to invite David Attenborough along as GoH. :)
-
I would love to see a Medievil Theme :D Mostly coz its my fave topic :P but also because the playground at the hotel relates to it, lol.
Medieval knights, warriors, Damsels & Maddens, Swords (fake or larp foam), spears,
Mighty steeds, battles, glory and banquets! the kinda time when King Arthur ruled. Woot!
EF14 has been my 1st con, so im not sure if the themes been done, but i would love to have a chance to use my Warrioress outfit.
and plenty of meed! I want to see meed at the bar, lol. Also REAL Ale! not that week stuff, proper Strong Oak Ale! he he.
-
I would love to see a Medievil Theme :D
Have a look over here (http://www.eurofurence.org/EF7/).
-
And EF 11 (songs of the old ages).
http://www.eurofurence.org/EF11
-
Darn! :P well ok maybe in a few years time *shrug* lol.
... fairy tails?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_10th_Kingdom (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_10th_Kingdom)
(maybe like the 10th kingdom theme! I love that show, Wolf was HOT! lol)
maybe i should look up the old EF themes 1st *scampers off to website*
Cool Photos of EF 7 and EF 11. I always miss my fave topics lol.
Edit: Woot :P there's not been a Classic Fairy tail Theme!! Fantasy ;D
-
CJ? Ist that Cheetah there in the front row? There, just a little right from the middle?
-

Obviously, no?
-
You mean the person next to Lisanne Norman who kind of looks as if he'd get an electrical shock in, let's say, 2 years in the Czech republic? No idea...
-
I think Megaplex already have done the Superhero/Villian theme.
Also, I think it'd be cool with a Savannah themed EF.
Edit: Or a Mythological themed EF? I'm sure Germany must have some mythological creatures? Or snatch the Norse myths and go by a Middle-earth (Midgård) theme
-

For some reason Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" suddenly popped into my head.
-

Yes, but I doubt Wolpertinger and Rübezahl make up for a whole con theme. The people living back then in what Germany is now were either Germanic (Norse), or Celtic.
Edit: And that another con has already done the theme is not a valid reason to not take it. I'm sure there already was a Celtic themed convention.
My personal favourite still would be cyberspace, virtual worlds, artificial intelligence and so on.
-
I'd favour the nature/wildlife and European mythology. Perhaps I can make my contribution to these (Greek wildlife or mythology)! :D
But the virtual worlds and science fiction seem fine ideas too.
-
A time travel theme would be fun. Lots of opportunities for robot stuff, futuristic looking costumes and decorations, and imagine what BBF could do with a dance themed like that.
-
For me the perfect theme would be cartoons/slapstick. I can just see all the fursuits running around with gigantic inflatable hammers/frying pans and the ACME gear everywhere.
(man I'd go completely nuts and make 50 drawings for the conbook XD)
However... Horror was a theme I never would've chosen and I loved the con anyway :D The theme is just a bonus!
-
Nice idea, but I see one problem: How are they going to do a pawpetshow that's as awesome as the previous one if it has to be slapstick? :P
-
Don't tempt us ... ;)
-
So, when is the theme for EF15 actually decided? o.O
-
So, when is the theme for EF15 actually decided? o.O
No later than Saturday morning of the convention, (usually before Friday).

The harem girls win :)

Wow, nice theme. I see you are working on it already, cool! Hugs you :)

Please promise me you'll do Africa next! ;D

Sounds tempting, with all the wild cats running around. :)
