Meeeh that thing :S seemed very lame and pointless to be honest, and it did become annoying at about 5 at night trying desperatly too sleep for an hour before the next morning, hotel was noisy enough as it was.

I personally find OI! less annoying than the yipping thing as seen heard on other conventions.

~Vixus.

Edit: Maybe it's because in our house we use "Oi!" to get our cat to stop doing something he isn't supposed to do. /edit.

As far as I remeber it was causes by one piece in the art auction. It was the original of the direction sign illustration for the toilets, entitled "Toilets - Oi oi oi oi!"

Second row, last one (http://akeyla.deviantart.com/art/sneak-peek-EF-signs-2010-175839451?q=sort%3Atime+gallery%3Aakeyla&qo=6)

Kage made fun of it and everyone mimicked to it. I found it rather annoying. Especially since I was all glad that this stupid "auuu" from 2's friend from EF 14 was forgotten by now.

The first time I heard this was during the group photo, which was a couple of hours before the auction.

It did indeed originate from the Mongrels show (BBC series with puppets) and there's me and a bunch of UK furs to blame for it, sorry ^.^

The original plan was to have one round of OI resounding through the lobby to try and see who else saw Mongrels and would join in... and from there it kinda exploded ^.^ Never understimate a fur's capability to pick up a new trend and run with it 'til the end and beyond ^.^

But, seriously, watch Mongrels, if you can. The show is hilarious!

Seeya,
 Fairlight!

I actually knew it as a punk thing:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oi!

So how many punks were there?

 ;)

Oi! isnt directly Punk, its more Skinhead (no not the Fascist ones, the other ones) Musik, its difficult to divide that but possible

btw to Shout Oi! is better than "Helga"  ;D

Like any joke, it was funny the first time, amusing the second, tiring the third, and annoying by the fourth.  By about the tenth outburst I was ready to throw a wine glass at them.

I found it particularly obnoxious during the art auction.  I was struggling for bids and to keep the pace going and every interruption grated on me.

Must have been an empty glass!  ;)
