Title: Wildlife Park Suhl (photos)
Post by: TaniDaReal on 02.04.2007, 22:14:13
Mew!

We've been at the EF location last weekend, and we also had the chance to visit the little wildlife park in Suhl, which is about 5 minutes away from the EF location (by car). It is small, but it is quite nice. I uploaded some impressions to my gallery:

They have horses, donkeys, goats, a fox, birds, deer, brown bears, wild cats, porcupines, squirrels, bunnies, reptiles, a lynx (we didn't see him), and some more.

Thanks for sharing Tani, and those critters are indeed really cute.
I agree an excellent idea to pay them a visit. :)

I'll have to try and hitch a ride to there with someone... or walk it.. (walking's good :P )

If just to see that fox.

Will have to try and get a few people together for a trip there..

Er, I don't like to see caged foxes, even less pay for it, why not trying to go out foxwatching? It's a lot of fun, and I'm sure in that area you'll be able to do so easely, I'll certainly bring my equipment, if anyone's interested... Look at the cute pic I once was able to shoot on such a trip ^.^

Certainly, but no guarantee to good observations/picture opportunities. The technique I'll use to spot them is 'lampspotting', some foxes do not mind and can be approached to only a few meters (mostly inexperienced yearlings), ideal for taking pictures, others flee already by just putting the beam on them, or sometimes it's just impossible to come closer (wrong winddirection, noise,...). You'll need a good camera anyway, with a good flash and a zoom, even from a few meters a standard 50mm lens won't frame the fox nicely, best is a 250mm upto 500mm lens, if you don't have that I'll be glad to offer you mine since it's impossible to handle the torch and the camera at the same time. If you still wanna join, please take dark and noiseless clothing.

May, may not :-) I don't have any "real" photography equipment, though, I tend to just play around with my compact (Exilim Z750, quite a nifty toy).

I'm also not likely to get some better stuff in the near future, as I've just been cunningly downsized last week. You wouldn't happen to know of any job opportunities for a Linux system engineer in .be ? :-p

Mew!

We've been at the EF location last weekend...wild cats, ...a lynx.
Ooh! what varieties of wild cat & Lynx do they have there???

I know the hotel allows dogs, but... I just wish I could bring one of our 11 snow leopards with me!

I absolutely don't mind if people bring wild animals if they also bring a cage, obey all the associated laws, and take care of all the mandatory safety measures. We've got a huge parking lot, and the artists would be deligted :) I doubt anyone has the resources to do that, however.

I have been there on August 12th and I was able to see the fox. He's such a cuty. He looked right into my eyes and then left the stage with a little chicken in his mouth. Really adorable. I should have brought my camera with me. It would have been worth it.
