Title: Bitter Lake Movie Premiere at Eurofurence
Post by: Jaryic on 26.05.2011, 01:00:55
Bitter Lake - The first live action full motion picture to be made in the Furry Fandom

Plot Synopsis:

After more than a decade of peace... the proud and noble kingdom of Valanor is suddenly torn apart by a terrible civil war. After 12 years, when the dust settles and resources start to dwindle, the starving people of Valanor cry out for peace, forcing the leaders of Tier, Sinnah, Daneth and Osgard to lay down their arms and meet each other at the negotiation table.

As each province prepares an envoy to find a diplomatic solution at the Kingdom's only neutral ground, an ancient and dark organization plots its return....
Unbeknownst to the leaders of the four warring provinces, this old enemy will stop at nothing to crush any hope of lasting peace.

Can the four envoys put their old hatreds aside and forge a bond of trust? Or will those that crave the blood and terror of war get their way...?
Whatever the outcome, the fate of Valanor will be decided at Bitter Lake.

Bitter Lake is the first live action full motion picture to be made in the Furry Fandom and is the second EZwolf and Shay production to date.

Produced entirely by the crew itself and sponsored by Eurofurence, Bitter Lake combines the creative skills of a small team of enthusiastic and driven people and shows what can be done with minimum resources in a very short timeframe.
The incredible work done when it comes to camera work, script and story writing, music composition, (voice) acting, art and fursuit building is something unique and every piece of the puzzle fits.

Shot entirely on location in France and the Netherlands in HD 35 mm, Bitter Lake will premiere at Eurofurence 17 in August of 2011 and will feature an original sound track by Fox Amoore.

I'm looking forward to see the whole film. I'm curious about how the actors will be using body language to convey emotions (I'm liking a lot a scene in the teaser where one of the character seems to be lowering her gaze to express sorrow or regret).

Well some of us in the US are not so rich as to be able to make it to the con.
And really would like to see that movie. Or own that movie.
So, is there any chance?
Their website does not seem to have any for sale, or even to understand the concept of selling copies of the movie.
But there is mention of trying to make the movie for more than furry audiences. Cool.
And if played here in southern California, we could not do it at a house, may have to rent a movie theater anyway.
Too big an audience for a single house, too small for most movie theaters.

Well maybe they dream of Eurofurnace => Cannes movie => big time.
Which is not impossible, just as Dark Star people went on to bigger thngs, eventually.
Good luck to them, but I want to see that movie.

My guess would be that they start selling copies or making it available for download after the premiere at Eurofurence.  Doing so beforehand would kinda not make sense, would it? Additionally, I'm pretty sure they're still editing and putting final touches to it until then, so it might just not be ready to watch, yet…

.................

Hey there!
Thanks for showing an intrest in our movie :)
As Runo put it... we are still working on the final touches and a release on a possible DVD has not yet been announced because we are still finalizing everything. This movie is being made by us, using our own funds and a little help on the side. That means we dont have tons to spend.

There will be a DVD release, that much I can say... we just dont know when yet. When its done and ready... we will have a better view at when a DVD might come to the fore.

As Furvan stated, the AC staff have officially told everyone the movie will be shown at AC2012... which we are of course very happy with.

Just to keep the ball rolling, we are working our butts off to get this thing done in the best possible way given our time, skills and resources.

Keep an eye out for any news, here or on the website.

Thanks,

Shay

PS: The website has no mention of a dvd or sale of one because of an agreement we have. First finish it in time... then we'll see! This is a movie made for the fandom, not our idea of making money! ^^

It's refreshing to see such production effort and attention to detail going into a project like this.  I can't wait to see it.

Hopefully this will motivate others to create more high-quality projects like it. ;)

Ok, the con has passed.
The movie presumably was shown.
Where do I get an update on what is happening?

I agree, it was a great movie. Certainly if you consider the budget. I really liked it.

More people did. I really didn't feel like standing in that crowd pushing and pressing to buy a DVD.

Well I've to say I'm pretty impressed. To be honest I didn't expected much when I saw the trailer on Youtube, but than I watched the movie on the EF and I was like " WWWOOOWWW!!!" XD Great work. I even bought the DVD there =)

The Soundtrack was the most amazing thing, because it wasn't that "crappy synth" orchestra. I'm looking forward for more "furry movies" like Bitter Lake =)

I thought that the movie would be shown at Eurofurance 2011, as one of the biggest highlights of that con.
From the comments above it was shown there.
And now you are saying AC2012? Is that for the US release?
Waiting happens. As well as unexpected stuff.
Are you still putting the finishing touches on this? Even after the first showing?
I had expected a rousing report from EF2011. There seems to be enthusiastic reporting from EF2011.
Now I expect that the DVDs may come from there.
There is a temptation to bootleg one for a friend if one has the movie, which I don't, and the tech, which I don't, and lack of ethics and consideration for the film makers and their future productions, which I don't. But some do. And one is too many.
It then is good for the film makers to make the DVD available.
And have a super version later, if need be. Director's cut, blooper reel, extra stuff, better quality finished product, English etc. subtitles, or even US TV codes, whatever. (Hollywood is considering eliminating Spanish subtitles because of a well known piracy problem that is especially high in that language)

One of the best motivators is if they can get their money back from the film.
So, please, respect yes, piracy no.

@Prof. Godel Fishbreath:
Yes, "Bitter Lake" was shown at EF and the day after the premiere they sold DVDs in the Dealer's Den. The movie is finished, the image quality of the DVD is excellent and there is also a "making of" included. Inside there was a little card from www.blackpaw.de, so I guess that the DVD will be available from their shop which will be back online sometimes in september. So, be patient, you will get your DVD.
