Title: DDR / Video games room ?
Post by: Hrs on 17.06.2011, 10:06:49
Hello,
Does anyone planned to do a DDR and/or video game room this year ?
I don't think I'll have the time to do it this year, but if needed, I can provide some equipment like DDR pads, screen, computer, sound system, etc.
So just reply on here if you're interested to do something.  :)

Woah!
And I just wanted to create a post like that! :D

I'm really interested 'bout DDR room this year too!
Have been in DDR since many years ago, so would be veeery happy to meet some other furries who like that as I do :3

Plus am gamer as general, so I vote for some fighting tournaments if some would volunteer PS3/X360.
I think there're at least SOME Tekken/Soul Calibur/Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat players out there!

And Kinect games'd really do too!
I mean, it's fun, and it's for everyone!
Anybody can join in, and I'm sure it'd be so much joy for fursuiters!

I'd want to bring my DDR metal pad for a help top, but, sadly, it's not possible, 'cause I'm from Russia and it'd be, like, really-really tough for me to bring it along for my EF travel.

And I can't really bring my X360 too, tho I can bring my Kinect, if that'd help in any way!

Yet since it's my very first EF I'm not sure if I can help with the organisation.
But I'll gladly help with anything I can for the realisation of this!

About the DDR, I have 1 metal DDR pad and its control box, so I hope that someone else will be able to bring another one. We had no problem last year, we managed to get 2 pads :)

About video games, I dont have a Xbox360, PS3 or whatever. I know that kinect games could be funm especially for fursuiters, so that a good idea, IMO. The problem is to find someone who could bring a Xbox with the kinect.

Also, some others musical video games such as Pop'n music, beatmania IIDX, Guitar hero, etc. could be fun too. I remember we did it during EF15, it was not bad !

I really pray for best on this one!
And I don't really think 2nd metal pad should be a huge problem!
The main part for now is to be sure if there'll be a room for this stuff or not.

Yeah, just like I said!
Not sure about X360, tho I should decide that later, maybe I can bring both with myself, it just needs a lil more thinking 'cause it could trouble my travel :I

Also, some others musical video games such as Pop'n music, beatmania IIDX, Guitar hero, etc. could be fun too. I remember we did it during EF15, it was not bad !

Well, I'm not sure 'bout BeatMania (it's pretty hardcore for many casual players), but Pop n' Music, Guitar Hero and, as for me, Rock Band and Para-Para is a very good addition!
Tho we can't be sure about people playing these games. We have to be more confident about what furries would prefer to play and avoid doing useless work.

Tho, again, I'm really excited about the Kinect idea! I'm sooo sure everyone will love it!

Um, eventually, it've been already discussed right here:

I'm pretty sure that starting from...

I'f people are up for it, I could bring a xbox360 with Kinect and Dance central for EF17.

...This post it's not anymore a last-year-conversation :|

Myeah, I missed that part. My apologies. :-[

I think we should discuss about it on this thread, because the other one is from last year... it would be more simple.

As I said in my first post, I can provide some equipment, but I'm not volontary to manage a video game SIG.
I expect that someone will be ok to do this during EF17, then getting the necessary equipment won't be the main problem, I think. There are over 1000 attendees ! So finding a Xbox with kinect, another DDR pad or whatever should be possible !

Same thoughts here.

We just need an answer if there'll be any available room :T
Yet still no words but silence~!

That means we have to wait, I suppose.

Usually, DDR and video game events are on the evening. So I don't think that the room will be a problem... but after all, I don't know, I'm not a staff.  :)

You shouldn't expect the staff to read all the forums on a regular basis. : ) Best way is to write an e-mail to the appropriate department: Programming (http://mailto:events@eurofurence.org) (see the Eurofurence Start Page (http://www.eurofurence.org/EF17/) for that).

That way a ticket gets created (so the question doesn't get forgotten) and the responsible person notified.

So what is the deadline for event registration ?

*Woof*

So what is the deadline for event registration ?

"Yesterday". : ) No, seriously, the sooner, the better. As far as I know there is no official deadline but program planning is a very difficult task that has a lot of constrains. If finally the timetable is set up, then it must be incorporated into the Con Book which take some time, too. So if you register an event "too late", the Chief of Programming might answer that he can't schedule it any more.

Only got those foam things and they aren't really helping with all these people wanting to go on them haha. For suits they are perfect though!

Hi everyone!

There's a already a room scheduled for video games each evening, but the events lacks of a person in charge for it so far. All it takes is someone who pipes up and takes care of the events. In case of questions just send me a PM or ticket to events@eurofurence.org and we'll work something out.

Not gonna stay in the room for the whole evening though. Too much a waste of contime for me.

Actually... I can't too!
Anyway, last year the room often empty, and there was no problem.

There's no need to stay in the room, sitting around and being bored the whole time.

On the other hand, we (= convention staff and security) cannot and will not take any responsibly for stolen, lost or damaged equipment. The room can be locked down when not in use, though.

Usually, I communicate the rules for those evening/late night events with the person in charge after she/he contacted me. But mentioning it does no harm.

(Again I need to say that my English is not the best but I hope you can understand me)

It would be nice if there is a ddr room again this year. Last year I had the supervising over the room. But I got the feeling last year that there where much less visitors in the ddr room then the year before in Suhl. So I would recommend that we shorten the time.

If no one else is up for doing the supervising I could do it for 2 evenings for maximal 3 hours. Like last year I could bring my ddr pad, projector and sound system again with me. And maybe this time my computer should not do the same shit with the ddr pads again that both pads get the same buttons :(

For example we can do the ddr room on the second and third regular EF day from 21 o’clock until 24 o’clock if this would be okay for you Hrs to bring your pad for this time?

Btw. I am one of this freaking guys called “gamers” too. So if someone is up for some classic games especially slot machine games like Street fighter or Metal Slug just ask me on the con then.

@Saber

Could you bring another pad too ? I'll have my pad during EF anyway, so that's not a problem :)
If you're ok to bring one pad, I wouldn't mind helping setting up the DDR room, but I won't stay in the room during the whole event.
Anyway, I think there will be no problems even if we leave the room empty sometimes. I think we can rely on everybody.

Just let me know.

natürlich!
But I think that there won't be any problem.

You don't have to offer it 'til sunrise. We can schedule 2-3 hours each evening. If it's well attended we can keep it running or lock the room earlier in case of less interest then thought.

@Saber

Could you bring another pad too ?

I would bring my metal pad for it. Leaving the room shortly empty to set up a fursuit on to play together with some other suiters was no problem last year too. And the employee of the hotel was really quick if we needed the room opened or closed. I do not see there any problem.

You don't have to offer it 'til sunrise. We can schedule 2-3 hours each evening. If it's well attended we can keep it running or lock the room earlier in case of less interest then thought.

I think we can do it then in the way I said. Set the second and third regular day from 21 o’clock until 24 o’clock with open end if enough people come. And if not then we just close the doors. If you need more information or an official registration of the event just send me an email.

Heh, you got e-mail. But choosing Thursday and Friday was a good idea since Saturday the Big Blue Dance takes place and most attendees will either be at the dance or at the bar, enjoying the last official day of EF. It's nice to know that we can offer this event again. Thanks for the effort! :)

Right, Opening the event on saturday is useless. There was almost nobody during the event at EF15 and EF16 because of the Dance.

@Saber

So you can expect me to help for the event setup ! As I said in the first post, I can provide some sound and displaying equipment if needed.

As long there is no major event count me in for entertaining you guys on the pads in fursuit  ;D
And no not at level 1 but make it 7 or 8 depending on who made the darned tracks  ::)
