Title: Eurofurence Videos
Post by: Suran on 24.08.2011, 17:46:30
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sfqa_v3j5LM&list=PLDCB5E685EC745D62&feature=plpp (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sfqa_v3j5LM&list=PLDCB5E685EC745D62&feature=plpp)

DONE!
24h after the dead dog party and the menu was online+dance competition uploading.
1.5d after the con ended and the Fursuit Dance Competition - video is public.
Fursuit Game Show is coming next.
Then the other parts of that "DVD-menu" you see.

please link to this play-list as I may replace some videos
a) because musical licensing (GEMA) is causing trouble (they already made one of the videos silenced until I filed a complaint)
b) musical licensing restricts how you can jump inside the play-lists
c) this is far from the best I could do with this material and more time.

Tirmy: I want to try to make at least an SD -version of the PPS from the footage you gave me combined with my sound recording, the playbacks made between scenes and a 3d title+ending. You said you had no way to upload to YouTube but I can easily remove that icon from the menu if you don't want me to.

If anyone is offended by the very basic nature of the menu and has the skill to do a better one: I'm all for replacing it.

I'm still trying to find out who to contact about the videos shown on the beamers in Fursuit Game Show Finals and Paw Pet Show.
It would be great to have them in better quality then can be had with a camera pointed at the screen at an angle.

Regular updates on the progress via Google+
https://plus.google.com/u/1/101291609984692068073

You can subscribe to that YouTube channel to get email-updates when new parts of the video get published.

Damn!!!

"Folgendes Material wurde aufgrund der Benachrichtigung von UMG, dass dieses Material eine Urheberrechtsverletzung darstellt, entfernt:

Eurofurence 17 - Fursuit Dance Competition 4/8"

(YouTube removed part 4/8 due to musical licensing from UMG.)

Awesome!

I'll have to get it all when I'm back home.
Wish someone could offer you a server or something because of the youtube bans :/

Post by: Suran on 24.08.2011, 19:13:06
I have a server myself but I'm heavily using the link- and playlist- features YouTube offers.
I'll also heavily rely on their great 3D-support where the user can choose while watching
the video without me having to provide half a dozen versions of the same video.
(times the number of parts as they have not lifted my 15min limit yet.)

Just because there are rumors floating around:
Yes, I did film SNIPPETS of Jim Martin to illustrate our Guest of Honor and the fun we had learning from him
for the highlights-video planned to be behind the upper one of the links in the menu.
More extensive in the first sig, less so in the second and third.
All of it BEFORE he made a note about requesting no publication on the internet later in his third sig (refering to that sig).
None of that has left my HDD and none of it will unless he himself would approve the planned short sequence.

It seems that a broken FAT reduced 4GB of footage of camera B during the Fursuit Game Show to 0.
Does anyone have 1080p25 footage of the the part before and after the egg-run?
I only have camera A of that part, showing a moderator on an otherwise empty stage.

A preview of the Fursuit Game Show - Finals is up already.
http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFCFC1148D7C6AA4B
However:
I just got the rendered scenes that where shown in the Fursuit Game Show.
They look beautiful!
I'll insert them into the video shortly and upload a better video.
2 parts of the preview I already uploaded to YouTube are broken anyway.
(Somehow it takes 2 days just to upload the 9 parts. Looks like there is a
bandwith-limitation just for YouTube or something in effect.)

Suran, I would recommend to fix and tweak your stuff first, before announcing it here. I get "This video is private" and "Under construction" messages on every video.

Suran, I would recommend to fix and tweak your stuff first, before announcing it here. I get "This video is private" and "Under construction" messages on every video.

The idea is to get "Under Construction" and an under-construction mouse-over on all menu-links to videos that are not done yet.
Nothing I can do about YouTube blocking already finished and uploaded videos due to musical licensing and GEMA.
"This video is private" should only happen in the few minutes when I put a new video online and update all the links and play-lists accordingly.
The menu is pretty much an experiment of how much DVD-feeling you get using only YouTube.

The final version of the Fursuit Game Show is currently rendering. It will take ages to upload and only then replace the current preview.

Then I'll work on the Paw Pet Show videos, upload them, and replace their Under-Construction -links with links to the finished videos.

Then it will probably take a few month to do the large highlights-of-EF -video.
(The events are relatively easy because they are one linear event each.)

I see no reason to deny people the option of already watching the parts completed now while I work on the later ones.

Edit: Now this is strange. YouTube seems to ignore you selecting multiple videos and making them public. It does work for making them private. Looks like I need to enter each video and select "public" and "save" by hand.

want to finish my videos too?  ;D

The Problem with Youtube, the Gema thing, even when there is NO Gema licenced stuff in it, its possible that it is get blocked, had that with a video that i have taken outside in the City, with no music

Maybe it would be better to upload them somewhere else

yeah, i did, no response...

funny thing, after i reuploaded it there was no problem anymore. Or Party Videos, you even dont understand what for Music it is, but for blocking it is enough. I will try myvideo when that happen again, or megavideo or other ones

I uploaded the semi final versions of the Fursuit Game show video (link to the "DVD-Menu" in the first post).
"semi final" because after uploading I noticed the sound levels to be a bit low.
(Should have checked without the headphones on before I uploaded.)

It's certainly not perfect but I learned a lot (https://plus.google.com/u/0/101291609984692068073/posts/A94xLLbt9b5) while making it.

Done.
The final version of my unofficial recording of the Fursuit Game Show has been uploaded to
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qP8SQverojI&list=PLDCB5E685EC745D62&feature=plpp  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qP8SQverojI&list=PLDCB5E685EC745D62&feature=plpp)
. Many thanks to Atkelar for providing me with the rendered scenes from the projection screens.

I also have 2/3 of a first version of the Paw Pet Show done but as putting up a preview
of the Game Show caused more work then anticipated, this time you'll have to wait
for the final version. Please keep in mind that this is the first time I tried my paws on
recording a stage show, so a few things went wrong in the Game Show that I could mostly
compensate. In the Paw Pet Show it went worse, so this will take longer. Thanks again to
Tirmagon for providing some footage from his camera too. It helped me a lot to cover parts
where both of my own recordings where not usable (in the scenes that are already more or less done).
I hope to get the pre-recorded scenes from the projection screens of PPS. This would make
the video so much better.
Sorry for making you all wait so long with an "under construction" behind that part of the video menu.
I plan to learn from my mistakes and do the PPS-recording way better next year.
(and with smaller equipment, to not be in the way that much.)

Et tu?  ;D  It seems to be a curse of that show to always cause more work than
planned... Many thanks for providing a recording though!

I have a question - is this thread supposed to be only for your videos or also for other videos from EF17 ?

more coming soon...

I'm looking forward to it! :)

Tomorrow I hope to have a very first version of the complete Paw Pet Show video online for selected people to give feedback.
Anyone with some experience in editing videos and/or sound willing to give constructive criticism on an early version to influence the next
week of editing and the next version?
It starts good. The final scenes and ending (where I already noticed and corrected an issue with a lens) is how I wanted it to be.
But I'm not quite sure of how to deal with a number of shots in the middle that I fear could look boring without the damaged footage.
(I've no experience doing this length and level of video editing but am doing my best to learn. So far there's a lot to learn from. ;) )

Just a warning for the other people who have filmed the Fursuit Dance Competition:
Be carefull with YouTube.
My video "Eurofurence 17 - Fursuit Dance Competition 4/8" got me a copyright strike
and thus a feature-limitation of any YouTube account ever linked to that Google Account for life.
It's either some music by UMG or by SME (They don't tell. They also don't tell what song it was) that caused this.
All content by
"Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society" and "EMI" simply triggered the posibilty of advertisement being displayed next to the video.
The Benny Hill theme and music in the Paw Pet Show did not trigger any Content-ID match.
The Fursuit Game Show was also safe.
The limitations include probably to never get your 15min limit removed and definately that you are no longer able to post unlisted or Creative Commons videos.
The later has the consequence of never being allowed to use CC-BY-SA music in videos anymore as you can't satisfy the "-SA" -part.

https://plus.google.com/u/0/101291609984692068073/posts/UShVE4dTapT

The 2 songs played in that part are
"When Will I Be Famous" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/When_Will_I_Be_Famous%3F  from 1987. Probably CBS Records and thus not UMG.
and some remix of the UMG -managed song "The sunlight hurts my eyes" by "Modestep". http://www.youtube.com/ModestepUK
That one is probably the cause.

@Suran:
Have you tried contacting them to clear up this problem?

Contact who? There is no way of contacting Google. Ever. For any of their services. They are worse then even Paypal regarding this.
Contacting UMG is pointless. They do have a valid claim and it's their discretion of how to handle it.
The apeal-form doesn't help unless you can prove to have aquired a license first or that the song has been wrongly identified (wich is kind of hard because no one tells you what song it was that they think their system identified).

I'm in the process of uploading I'm done uploading the first public version of my Paw Pet Show video.  #p
I may choose to change some soft fades to hard cuts and/or lift the sound levels to have the talking at -3dB peak instead of -6dB but if no one finds anything that should be changed or could be improved I may just call this final too.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qP8SQverojI&list=PLDCB5E685EC745D62&feature=plpp

Thanks to Thirmi and Cheetah for the footage!
I removed the "eurofurence presents" and "a ... production" from the projection-screen intro, so there's no confusion that this is just an unofficial audience recording.
Only the very start and the final rooftof-scene+ending is how I intented to do it. Most of the show I had trouble with both cameras (one out of focus due to a mechanical issue the other overexposing white fur) that I failed to anticipate due to simple lack of experience and had to improvise a lot.
I hope you can still enjoy the result.
(Can't wait for the official DVD.)

..renamed the thread title.

Eurofurence 17 - A chinese Furstory

Watch it on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2_kAEuoyXk)

or

Download (1080p H264 10MBit 700 MB) (http://www.cleanerwolf.de/EF17_a_chinese_furstory_1080p.7z)
Password to open the 7z: H3llsB1tch3s

Again it's mainly about fursuiters, starting slowly and somehow kitschy and then getting much faster after the second half during the furdance sequence. In the beginning there are some allusions to the glory days of Hongkong cinema of the 80s and 90s, probably only a few people will understand those "insider gags", but anyways, I had fun to create them :)

This time I decided to publish the Youtube version as "listed", if somebody should complain about this, I can still change it, but for now the video can be found by everybody.

Have fun  :)

@Cleanerwolf: Awesome video. Seriously, the scenes, the camerahandling, the music selection, everything is really just awesome and that's very seldom with me.

Just one question, not just for Cleaner but for every videomaker out there: Why fursuits? Why do all the con-videos consist to 80-90% of fursuit-action? I love fursuits a lot but the fandom and especially conventions consist of so much more and there was so much more cool stuff happening all over the con not involving fursuits, but I never get to see that in the published videos. Just pondering. :3

Still, awesome video!

Cool!
Great job on the fursuit dance!
The idea with the elevator was great too.

Announcement: I was asked to take down the Paw Pet Show.
I'm no longer allowed to show the original projection-screen footage.
I'll try to re-cut everything to use the filmed screens again (lots of work and I don't actually have the time to do it now).
Problem is also that uploading that much material in FullHD to YouTube takes ages.
So it will take at least until tuesday (probably longer) to put this online.
In the mean time I'll see about showing the Preview II instead. Back then I did not have and thus not use the footage in question.
If you use the link to the main video menu (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qP8SQverojI&list=PLDCB5E685EC745D62&feature=plpp), everything should work and stay working.
Sadly all comments, likes and view-counts will be lost and everyone who linked directly to a video will get a permission error.

Title: Re: Eurofurence Videos
Post by: BigBlueFox on 09.09.2011, 22:07:35
I think I should clarify a few things regarding the drama:

I raised my concern about releasing original material like those video clips simply because I don't see the reason to even think about releasing an official EF Pawpet Show DVD when a production already exists on the internet that has the same level of quality due to all the inserts and videos being used in that production. With all the videos that are already floating around on the internet (and everyone, please feel free to film the PPS and other shows at EF if you want, it's no problem!), little things like those inserts, videos or the audio are the only thing that might give people a reason to get one of those DVDs. As a result, I ditched the DVD project from my project pipeline. I don't need to re-invent the wheel.

I did NEVER ask for, or intended to have Surans videos removed or re-cut. And I think it's somewhat ridiculous to have the already finished video removed from Youtube. Whoever made that decision and approached Suran: please re-think your decision, it does NOT make any sense.

Title: Re: Eurofurence Videos
Post by: Cheetah on 09.09.2011, 22:41:23
No, I asked Suran to take them down, not BBF. And Suran was not supposed to start a discussion about it. BBF specifically told me not to give Suran (or anybody else) these videos for use on youtube, but I missed it - for which I have to apologize. So, consequentially, when BBF notified me of the fact that I have acted against his will, I asked Suran to take the videos containing the HD intros down and only use the material filmed off the screen instead. This is a staff-internal issue, and there will be no further discussion on this board. I'm sorry for the invoncenience. This was all a 100% misunderstanding between me and BBF, nobody else's.

@Dhary, Suran, Sunwolf:
Thank you for the nice feedback  :)

Now I will try to answer Dharys question from my personal point of view, I cannot speak for the other videomakers.
For me it's a mix between personal preference and my role in the EF video team. While BBF is the guy who makes the official videos including all sorts of stuff, I am just trying to capture the overall atmosphere of the convention. My own videos are not meant as documentary, I try to create emotions in the first place, I try to visualise what makes conventions like EF so exciting for me. It's all about fun, harmony, love... and most fursuiters represent all this perfectly.

So....
new menu (using 3 screens now to have the space for some more videos)
http://goo.gl/KUGZd (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sfqa_v3j5LM&list=PLDCB5E685EC745D62&feature=plpp)
final paw pet show (with some drastic changes to the white balance of the third camera)
and the opening ceremony (because no one had that yet).
In the opening ceremony I added links to the events mentioned.
Including the video of "Performing in Full Body Customes" by Bartimaeus (thanks) and the trailers of
the movies mentioned.
The links go to play-lists that take you back to the part of the opening ceremony after watching them.
(Except for the very long events. They take you back to the main menu as you'll have forgotten about
the opening ceremony after 2.5h of Paw Pet Show or Enter The Arena.)
I'm trying to do the motofurs meet tonight. Then start on the first chapters of the main video.

Great job, Suran  :)
The PPS is fun to watch in 1080p fullscreen even without the HQ video inserts.
The opening ceremony seems to be a bit too dark. Probably you tried to correct some overexposure, but now Cheetah's jacket is yellow instead of white. When turning down the brightness try to correct the contrast and white balance for proper white levels next time. God job on all the little inserts and the movie posters.

I feel so loved now  :o *blushes*

When turning down the brightness try to correct the contrast and white balance for proper white levels next time. God job on all the little inserts and the movie posters.
Thanks. Will do.
I'll have to seriously look into how to control exposure in "P" and "A" modes anyway.
I had serious issues with that (being the first time to film a stage with strong lights).
As for the white-balance, I may have simply had it on manual to make shure both cameras have the same setting and forgotten to re-set that after filming in the lobby.
Later I simply ran both on automatic as I found this not to be needed using identical cameras.
I should look out for this in post. Didn't think about it last night.
Thanks for reminding me!

...so much left to learn.

Thanx for the videos, Uncle Kage is always fun to watch  :)

Ok, one more from me:

Eurofurence 17 - Shake it, Baby !

Download (1080p / H264 / 5MBit / 950 MB / 25 min.) (http://www.cleanerwolf.de/EF17_Shake_it_Baby_1080p.7z)

Download (720p H264 4MBit 750 MB 25 min.) (http://www.cleanerwolf.de/EF17_Shake_it_Baby_720p.7z) (For slow computers and/or displays with less than 1920x1080 pixels)

While the furdance sequence in "A chinese Furstory" is supposed to be a MTV-style music video, I tried to transport the original party atmosphere with this one. It's much longer (25 minutes), editing is much slower and I used the original sound. The sound quality isn't optimal of course, I applied some filters to enhance the quality and tried to make the transitions as smooth as possible but there are still some glitches here and there.
I will provide this video as a download only and will not upload it to Youtube because of the length and to avoid possible trouble with the "content mafia".

Some hints for playback:
This video cannot be played back with Quicktime Player, Quicktime sucks big time, same goes for Windows Media Player.
The video was successfully tested with VLC Player (http://www.videolan.org/) and Media Player Classic Home Cinema (http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/), you don't need any additonal codec-packs.

It's hard to understand, but you need to realize: It's not about YOU. It's about THEM, the trolls. On the internet, the official currency is ATTENTION. And by those standards, the biggest troll is the richest man. And on top of that, if you're bottom feeding scum, there are two ways to boost your self esteem: Stop being bottom feeding scum by actually achieving something in your life. Or seemingly elevating yourself above others by trolling on the internet. Guess which is easier?

Thats why I say: DON'T ARGUE WITH THESE GUYS. THATS WHAT THEY WANT! Just vote their comments down, or if you're the uploader, simply delete their comments. At the very least, ignore them.  Starve them from their attention, and they are helpless.

Now that you mention it - good point. Why is a Fursuit Parade tagged with "eurofurence 17 furry yiff fursuit parade magdeburg"?
Blatantly wrong use of the word or an attempt to fishing for attention itself?

Yes, sometimes it can be hard to choose the "right" music for your pictures. You did a pretty good job concerning this. But you mixed up the album and band name for "Crashed into a spiral world". The band's name is "All my faults" and the album title is "neo.NøiR".

Convention Wipe-Outs

part2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIjOBVJhjg0

There will be more.
I have so much footage I cant decide where to start and what to do with all of it x_x (its 600Gb, including 2 week travel through Austria before EF)
I've only finished our fursuiting in Alps videos this far: Tulfes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6IqJUQtO6c) and Grossglockner (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ppg_iJkQ2s)

Really? That the video is so short is actually it's strength, and if I had to be very picky, I could find maybe one cut that isn't quite on cue (the one after the countdown), the rest is pretty much perfectly timed.
