I don't know if the theme for EF 18 has been decided yet, but if not, we could try to think of some things here...
EDIT: Mystifur says the theme has already been decided. But we can still suggest things for EF 19 instead?
Down Under, Australia
As long as we don't have too many Australians at Eurofurence this could probably be very unique. There could be panels about didgeridoo playing and other things specific to Australia.
The Mayas
Kiantis suggested this on the IRC channel. It ties in very well with the year 2012 and there is plenty of story material for the pawpet show.
Space and science fiction
This year's EF touched a bit on the future, but we haven't really had anything like this before. A pawpet show in space would be really interesting I think. Maybe including time travel? Or maybe 'time' could be the theme itself?
The Ocean
This would be a little harder to work out, but an underwater theme? It could be nice. :)
Arctic
I think someone else suggested this. Perhaps combined with arctic culture, such as the Nordic countries (so the Swedes and Finns can laugh) or maybe northern Canada.
Russia
There is a lot of story material in this and a rich history. It may be necessary to avoid references to communism, though.
Ancient Romans and Greeks
Furry philosophers and circuses with fursuiters! All roads lead to Eurofurence of course. :p

Down Under has my vote although that theme has very recently been done at FC in San Jose.
My favorite though, and I've been trying to promote that idea for a while already, is space/science fiction. I'm not even a huge fan of it, but so many things could be done with that theme! It fits very well for both cartoony fun and more serious, adult stories. I myself LOVE retro science fiction/space posters and cheesy costumes.
Russia would be my least favorite, as much as I like it, there are quite a few Russian attendes (several friends of mine) and I would not want to insult them with my awful stereotypical jokes :P
That being said, I love the con no matter the theme, at my first EF horror was the theme which is something I definitely don't like... still I enjoyed the theming and the pawpetshow a lot! Also, I already have many stupid ideas for props that will fit next year's theme! ;)

I vote for a nordic theme.
For a couple of reasons, last-but-not-least: my favorite fursuiter at the EF 17 was 'Oddity' from Sweden (a white tomcat).

That would bring rage and drama to EF :< think of it like this. If you do such a thing you have to keep this species related theme so long till any species in furry fandom is taken. That would take years. And if they would stop after the first one, then there will be fur....

Kiki, that's the responsibility you have when you step in front of a camera. Whatever you say, every word, every line, will be what 1000000 viewers will forever associate with furry fandom - because it's the first thing they ever heard about it :)
You're lucky you got away that well. One slip of your tongue, one slight manipulation by the editors, and your "most memorable line on TV" could have been a desaster, too.
You are very lucky that "kiki" quote came last. People will always remember the last thing said in an enumeration, and forget the first. Otherwise, your most well-known line would be "Ich bin Rudolf das Rentier mit der roten Nase" - and that would come across a LOT less favourable than the starfox reference :)
Or, they could have made you say, "Ich gehe jeden Tag im Kostüm zur Apotheke um mir meine Tabletten abzuholen" - be glad they didnt :)

I like the music of the ( 50s ?) and the atmosphre in the "world" of the game is real great.

The clothing is awesome and very easy to replicate, the ideas around can be quite imaginative
and it's fun!

The latest "Ice Age" movie makes a brief play on that idea - the lost island civilization of "ScratLantis" - so putting it in a Furry Context could be done!

I don't want to make too many suggestions - there are themes which haven't been proposed yet, and this is fun, almost like guessing what is in a gift-wrapped present, so others should have the opportunity to make friendly suggestions, too.
...But I do have one that I haven't seen yet, and I don't recall if it had been used at another Furry Convention anywhere; I'll wait to see if anyone else thinks of it, first.

Pawpet show story: A Story about a fox (or dog, or any other spieces you find fitting for the job) who is trying to find other life forms in other planets, and make new friends and enemies? ^^;
Also, does the "Journey To The Center Of The Furth" make any sense as another theme? ;)

Alas the retro future things seems to be taken by FC this year since theyre theme is "the furbidden planet".
The Victorian Era seems quite fun, if we can include everything from 17th century (1800) up to the Titanic tragedy. Actually that story would make for a quite impressive paw pet show.
So maybe:
Titanic - The end of an era.
"Once more the infamous ship is ready for its maiden voyage and the passenger are boarding and is wowed by its extravaganza while her master, Captain Smith, is readying her for an epic jerney across the atlantic ocean. This ship isnt just a ship - its also a representation of an era where everthing was possible, and its this world where visiting at EF 19!"

I don't wish to be a spoiler here, but a Hawaiian theme and a Caribbean theme - while both "tropical island" related - are quite different in culture, traditions, and general "feel".
For Hawaiian, think Polynesian, and the mood I tried to summarize with the word Tiki.
For Caribbean, think Calypso music and Steel Drum Bands and Latin (Cubano) dance music, coming in on the shortwave. Think of Jamaica and Sugar Cane plantations, Molasses, and Rum Distilleries. Think French Creoles and Spanish Creolos, Haiti, and Voodoo; Spanish Galleons loaded with Silver and Gold of the New World and Privateers like Drake and out-and-out Pirates like Morgan...and the treasure hunters who still follow in all their wakes. Place names as varied as Kingston, Port Royal, Santo Domingo, Hispaniola, Cristobal and Cartagena, Antigua and Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Monsarrat and Martinique and the Windward Isles, and Smugglers' Cay. Think Banana boats, Banana Republics and Caudillos; Tramp Steamers and the Gulf Stream. Think Marlin Fishing, Cuban Cigars, and Daquiris. Conchs and Key Lime Pie, Chicken Jerk, black beans and rice, Mangos and Star Fruit, Jamaican Allspice. And fish - lots of fish. Bohios, Cayucos and hammocks. Ancient forts along the Spanish Main, with cannon primed and ready for any potential pirate raid...
Both are quite interesting; the first is perhaps more pleasurable to think about, the latter is more complex and varied, and certainly darker in history (but makes for incredible stories, if you know that history).
Me - I find it easier to imagine Chairman Cheetah up on stage as a Polynesian Chieftan/Kahuna, accompanied by the manic, frantic rhythm of hawaiian war drums (can Pinky or Tani dance a hula?), than as a Banana-porter singing "Day-OH!" a'la Harry Belafonte.

I got another idea: UNITED FURS OF AMERICA! (a furry version of the statue of liberty at the front door) (Cowboy furs) (A paw pet show about the national parks, two paw pets making a road trip around the states ect)

Polynesian/Hawaiian furs sounds more tempting than Carebian dito, even thou the later could be done as a more tempting Pirates ahoy! theme, with Cheetah as Captain Jack Sparrow. #p
As for the United States of Fur suggestion It would be much more interesting with something like "How West Was Won" theme focusing on the classic wild west themes with indians and cowboys (or rather cow furs^^), and caravans of settlers, as well as classical southern farm settings with all its possible drama. Could make for a few interesting paw pet show themes as well. And Chetaah could be general Custer, or one of the earlier presidents. :)

What happens to earth when our civilization is gone? No fixed theme or setting, just open for anything. Nature takes over? Animals evolve to sentient beings? Humans go back to stone age? Magic and superstition?

Okay, I've mentioned this to friends, but figure I'd mention it here.. We need a proper, future SciFi con. Maybe Bladerunner or Minority Report like, possibly even Cyberpunk?. I've looked through all the major cons themes and not seen any (Some come close, but lots do retro 50's B-Movie SciFi).
It's something that really doesn't seem to have been done, most con themes seem to be historically based. I think it's something that has a massive amount of possibilites, for panels, games, themed events.

I forgot if I already mentioned here or not, but Tiki theme sounds like fun to me! It's super easy to get basic matching costumes (for both attendees or suiters), but there's also enough to it to make it interesting for people who like to go more in-depth. Also, I can't think of any major con that had this theme recently. Correct me if I'm wrong!

All ideas are very acceptable by any furry? I don't want to offend others with something that may not be right so I better don't say much and say... "Furries in Videogame Land". Yhink in all games from 80's... 90's... and even early 2000's and adapt them to furry on the decorations, games, events, etc :3

Pfft, you're not going to offend anybody. If they're offended, it's their fault. They will probably look into any theme as long as they haven't done it before.

No one really knows how life was, before it dissapeared. It could just as well have been populated by real anthropormic creatures :)
