Title: New organizer for the Gamecorner wanted
Post by: Xaneorath on 06.12.2012, 09:57:32
Hi everyone!

If you know me from the Gamecorner, you may have noticed me being a bit troubled during those last EFs.
As a matter of fact I kept those Gamecorner evenings going for the last 3 years, allthough due to personal trouble I didnt feel like it anymore.

This is why I want to search for someone who is interested in hosting the Gamecorner for the next EFs and wishes to take over the organizational part from me, with more enthusiasm than I am able to give to it, and the vigor it deserves.

If you might be interested, just contact me via PM or answer to this thread, and we can talk about the specifics.

Well, basically you should be there in time as the SIG starts and prepare the room (group the tables, maybe decorate a bit) and tidy up the room a bit after the event.
Also it would be welcome if you had a collection of english boardgames you wish to share for the event, allthough people mostly bring a variety of games, its better if the game room is equipped as soon as the daily event starts.

In my opinion a good host of the Gamecorner should also:
- Be there for a large quantity of time during the event to oversee the room and host/explain some games.
- Keep the mood up.
Something I wasnt able to do those last years and probably wont be able to do anymore.

I agree to Xaneorath, but I would like to add that, if you really mean it, you should definitely bring some organisational talents, too - and the ambition to make a great game room. You need to be into that kind of stuff. If, for example, you had no passion for games yourself, you'd have a hard time knowing what kind of atmosphere, and what kind of games people will appreciate. And then of course, you're responsible for maintaining that room. Make sure nothing gets taken out that belongs to you - that people are keeping it clean. Then, advertising it. Make sure it's in the conbook. If you don't want to do everything yourself, you might want to look into getting helpers, and give them specific tasks.

I believe I have the perfect candidate. I've talked to him about it and he's going to think it over during Christmas and get back to me afterwards. But I'm happy to say that I think there's a high probability we've found the right guy, he really "ticks all the boxes" so to speak.
