Title: Heads up - Neukölln Arcaden parking [Update: Now resolved]
Post by: SouthPaw on 08.01.2016, 23:30:35
For those who've been parking at the Neukölln Arcaden shopping centre car park, management of the car park appears to have been taken back in-house instead of being contracted out to APCOA. As such, it's no longer possible to buy the 20€ weekly parking ticket online.

Their website (http://www.neukoelln-arcaden.de/anfahrt-kontakt/) suggests that longer period tickets are still available, but only over the phone and it doesn't give any indication of pricing.

See post 14 (https://forum.eurofurence.org/index.php/topic,6732.msg67012.html#msg67012) in this very thread for the latest information.

tl;dr Weekly parking tickets are no longer available, but there's a maximum charge of 2€ per day.

That blows; parked there last two years and really hoped to use them again this year. The direct environment of the hotel doesn't really invite me to leave the car unattended for an entire week :-\. I'd give them a call if my German speaking skills weren't so abysmal ;).

Edit: sent them a mail. Will update this thread with the response :).

Indeed, I used to park there too with no problems at all.
Let us know what they say about this, I would be a great help if we could reserve a spot without picking up the phone.
(Although I let someone else reserve a spot who does speak english)

No response from Neukölln Arcaden yet ... any German speakers want to do an inquiry by phone?

I just talked with the customer service assistant and she told me they only offer tickets for 4 weeks which would be 65€. They discontinued the weekly parking service due to administrative effort.

She's currently asking her superior about making it available again given that there are sufficient inquiries. Do you have any rough numbers on  how many used their service in recent years? She'll phone me back on Tuesday, stay tuned...

Ah, thanks for checking! I received a mail back from the shopping mall operator, but the car park is operated by an external party:

Since the beginning of this year our car park is operated from CONTIPARK. Unfortunately we as Centermanagement of the Neukölln Arcaden can´t  give you any information of the parking costs, in detail.

I've sent them a mail, but in that case the answer will probably be the same.

I was in contact with NeuKölln Arcarden and Contipark the last 2 weeks (written responses are slow)
because parking my transporter there worked out well last year.
(Only downside: no trailers)

You can buy 4 weeks for 65eur.
Contipark is working on Season-Tickets but has no offer or price yet.
They asked for a date-range and a number of people.

My contact is:
Gundula Schulze
Sekretariat Betriebsleitung Berlin
Contipark Parkgaragengesellschaft mbH
Nürnberger Straße 5-7 | 10787 Berlin
T.: +49 30 25464291
F.: +49 30 23005279
gschulze@contipark.de

She asked how for a date-range and a number of people to make an offer.
Myself I have already booked in another garage in the mean time.

I also used to park there, for reference and headcount :)

Technically it's still cheaper to park there, rather than at the Estrel, which is 18€ a day, so if you stay longer than 3 days in Berlin, the 65€ option is still cheaper.
Maybe you can sell the 4 week ticket after the convention for like 20€.

But to be honest, let's hope they can make a special offer for the convention.

This is the response I got from ContiPark:

Thank you for your interest in our company. Sorry, we currently offer no weekly passes.

I ask you to make the request in June, because we do not get a new park by then.

For further information I am gladly at your disposal.

I have no idea what that means to be honest ;-).

Sorry for the late response.
As mentioned above there are no weekly tickets atm. However, the car park associate told me they're getting a new cash system along with new ticket dispensers in April or May. Tickets for one week should be available by then.

Hi there!
As I was kind of frustrated that parking was gonna cost more (and I couldn't sleep ^^), I did a little research on parking spaces in Berlin.

What I found was the following:
Leffers Karl-Marx-Straße (http://www.contipark.de/en/find-parking/berlin-parkhaus-leffers-karl-marx-str) (Contipark) -> 4 weeks = 39,27€ | actually even closer than Neuköln Arcaden
Neukölln Arcaden (http://www.contipark.de/en/find-parking/berlin-parkhaus-neukoelln-arcaden) (Contipark) -> 4 weeks = 51,17€ | I don't know why there is a different price stated on this website
And according to Google there are another 2 car parks (https://www.google.at/search?q=Berlin%20parken&rflfq=1&rlha=0&tbm=lcl&tbs=lf:1,lf_ui:3&oll=52.47928513165864,13.439451560156273&ospn=0.007893560228040997,0.020299037519809104&oz=16&fll=52.47928513165864,13.439451560156272&fspn=0.03157461682013718,0.08119711676218344&fz=14&ved=0ahUKEwivtZDpjIPMAhXMXhoKHZdUCyYQ0CcIHg&bav=on.2,or.&bvm=bv.119028448,d.d24&biw=1366&bih=664&ech=1&psi=Cr4JV-33LsfZU-iAs6gK.1460256269777.15&ei=QL4JV83ZIoaUUd2XlfgC&emsg=NCSR&noj=1&qop=1&rlfi=hd:;si:) (sorry this one is in german, but you still can see it on the map) in the area that have no website (one I can't find on the website linked by google).

Please note that I haven't contacted any of them yet so all I know is what their websites tell.

greets

Looking at the Application Form for Long-Term Parking (available from this page (http://www.contipark.de/en/produkte-services/dauerparker-mietvertrag/)), there's a minimum term of three months under that arrangement.

In addition, the "Leffers" car park is only open between 09:00 and 23:00, though is a flat 2€ per day, whereas Neukölln Arcaden is nominally 05:00 to 03:00.

Just a short (maybe useless ^^) information:
As I was a bit unsure if it is ok to park my car in the carpark all week and over night just like that (never done that jet) I've sent an email to Contipark asking if that actually works.

Lucky me/us their answer was yes, parking over night is possible for up to 30 days straight, yay :)
(Only reservations are not available, it's first come first serve)

How far is the walk from the closest parking area to the hotel?

How far is the walk from the closest parking area to the hotel?

The short answer is "too far to walk".  :P

The long answer is, of course, "that depends where you're parked". There's a bit of on-street parking in the direct vicinity of the hotel, but the two garages mentioned in this thread are a good one and a half kilometres away. Look them up on a map if you like.

When I parked at Neukölln Arkaden, it took me a little less than half an hour to get there.

Back then, you were allowed to park in the Hotel garage for half an hour for free, so you could check in and carry in your baggage, so you don't have to walk the entire distance with your suitcases.

Is parking at the Estrel still free the first half hour, btw? Or has that changed?

According to their website, parking in their underground parking garage is free for the first hour.
