Title: Hotel booking procedure 2022
Post by: Chari on 23.01.2022, 01:20:15
Hi,
since the official EF reg is only one week away, I'd like to ask if there will be an announcment in-time about how the hotel-booking will work this year?
Thank you.

Hey,
there is a video out now, which explains the registration process:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TUWxh8Rnh9U

I am still unsure, whether the hotel booking starts on 15. february with 1500 people registered, or at the exact moment, when 1500 people have registered. Maybe somebody can elaborate on that?

Since this year room reservations are done AFTER the con registrations have been payed allready, are we able to cancel and refund our con registration in the event that we can't get a room at the Estrell?

Especially going for a sponsor or even super-sponsor ticket right from the start would be too much of a gamble for me otherwise if it can't be refunded later.

Hi!

That's not quite correct. The plan is to approve registrations around the end of February. Then you have 2 weeks to pay.

Public hotel booking has always fallen into the 2 week payment timeframe, so you could hold off with payment until you have a room.

Just please consider the point Cheetah raised in his video - we need 1500 paid registrations so the convention is financially viable. If we only just exceed that number of registrations, then getting a room at the Estrel won't be an issue (it has more beds than 1500), but then we kindly ask that you treat your registration as a promise you've made.

If on the other hand, the Estrel is being booked out, we'll have over 2000 paid registrations anyway. Then it's no problem if you pull out if you don't get a room.

... are we able to cancel and refund our con registration in the event that we can't get a room at the Estrell?

Once paid, registrations cannot be refunded, but they CAN be transferred.

Ah ok. Then there's no issue. Thanks for the quick reply.
Of course my registration is a promise i'll attend as long as i'm able to get a room. And if I don't there will be more than enough other folks anyway as you've said. ;)

Really. This is for the hotel being able to process all requests on the same day.

Did you ever considered collecting the entries prefilled from each person that's interested in a hotel room and then sending them to the hotel in a random order?
So, everyone has an equal chance, no-one had to get up on a Sunday at 7 a.m. and play who is the fastest?
