Metal-Event
« on: 07.09.2010, 15:00:53 »

Hey there :)

Furries and their affinity to techno and all that "Umts"-stuff... a myth as old as the fandom itself. I still don't have a clue why, but that doesn't matter. The thing is, that there are still some other furs left who don't really like that kind of music and are more into metal-stuff. So my and Räv's wish for the next EF would be, that there will be an event on one of the evenings that involves metal like a Metal-Bar oder even some kinda "dance-event".
I'm sure, many other furs would appreciate that.

Yours, Ixas

Yepp, indeed they would, as long as some Rock and Nu-Metal is also allowed  ;)

Hell yeah, of course!!
From good ol' "Guns 'n Roses" via "System of a Down" to "Rammstein" and "Slipknot". Everything of that should be included ;)

This has been brought up so many times...

All the proponents of Rock & Metal think it's good idea, EF staff seems to think it's not.

So the only chance to really get it done is to volunteer and make it require as little effort as possible from EF staff. You can't expect them to do all the work for you. With all those additional extra days the con has now, though, there ought to be some kind of timeslot for it. Personally, I don't think it's necessary to have three techno-focused music events.

And maybe finally having an alternative event would get us some empirical data, at last, whether (a decent, sufficiently mainstream selection of) Rock music really is such a party crasher.

I'm dying to find out.

I actually didn't expect the EF staff to do it all for us.
Of course we would have to do it on our own.
The only thing that is needed is a location (probably the bar room) and the permit to connect a laptop to an existing audio system or to bring our own audio system.
I think i could solder any adaptor that would be needed, if it's not already present or i also could bring a small audio system.

So it's all about us to get that clarified in time...

If there is a chance to get a timeslot in the evening for that, I'd try to find two or three other furs as volunteers. I'm sure Räv will also help me out with that. Shouldn't be a problem at all.

Me too. And I'm sure, it isn't. We're having a disco here in Nuremberg, that is focused on exactly that kind of music. And every evening I've been there was worth every euro I left there.

I surely support this idea, already said basically the same thing to several friends of mine, I'd certainly welcome a bit of metal and hard-rock.^^ *purrs*

I'm absolutely for this. I did bring my distinctive flag and a crummy pair of speakers :P but it didn't quite happen this year. Space permitting, I think there could be an elternative open-ended space like the gaming and video-games rooms. I'm happy to help with playlists, equipment, etc.

PS: thanks for the link :)

I am all for this venture and I know a fair few others who will be too. The Confuzzled Rock set usually goes down well so I don't see why this won't either. I echo the belief shared by many on this forum as I do believe a bit of variety would make for a stronger con-going experience.

That one was in the Kulisse cellar bar, and had pretty bad music (random crap from disco and j-pop to hard rock). The treble and mid-frequency volume was way too high, and the bass was too weak.

The location itself was kind of okay, but there was neither enough room to properly dance / headbang / pogo, nor was the music rock-focused enough.

Wow, I haven't expected such a feedback.
And yeah, if it's really sure that we get a timeslot, I will try to find as many helping paws as possible to organize this.
I'll ask a member of the orga to have a look at that thread. Would be nice to hear an opinion from one of them.

Dude! That'd be f*cking awesome if we really get enough space for some pogo ;D
