Species related SIG / Biology etc.
« on: 27.04.2011, 10:47:00 »

Hello!

There are a lot of SIGs at EF, but what I really miss is something more species related.

I visited something like that at Further Confusion and I think it was quite interesting, to learn more about the animal somebody like.

There could be some Canine SIG etc.

Also I would like to do something with otters, but I don't know if the work would be worth it.
It would be a bad thing if I put a lot of work in it and nobody would show up.

So my question is, would you visit such a SIG at EF?

Don't have to be Eurofurence 17, but perhaps next year.

I am also interested in a species SIG.

But i am not focused on a special one.

So let me know if there will be such a SIG.

uuuh yeah, a few questions though

What exactly is the SIG gonna be about?
are you planning to give a one-hour class about scientific/biological stuff about some species and the place and ways they live?

And how are you gonna do with mythical creatures and such? :s

It's a good idea but maybe too....specific and hard to pull together. Wouldn't a single SIG about differenciations between species be better? Besides, If you divide it in several SIGs by species, people will only go to their one, am not sure you'll have many attendees :/

Fox panel was good back in... ef14? :)

I would happy to attend more biology and species related sigs, all depends on scheduling probably.
I could probably help give them as well.

I really liked the fox panel too. It's just that once you've seen it, there's no reason to go the year after to hear the same so you chose other SIGs. But for newcomers, it is highly recommendable.  :)

Perhaps if it was about many animal species, such as the differences and likenesses and abilities of the canines/felines/etc. or if you made it more interactive or if you made it about how humans can physically be altered to be more like animals, like a panel we have planned for ScotiaCon :-)

Well, just brain storming here. The idea is sound imo, it just needs a bit of tweaking is all.

Hello.

The word Biology in the topic title got my attention.

having a degree in biology, I think I could help gathering infos since I know where to search for them about any topic you would like to know (example, physiology or releated things mostly).

Tell me if I can help you

Hello again and sorry for no answers, i could work 24/7 lately.

I was just interested if somebody would care about such a SIG.
And of course there could be one SIG with several Species. Would be fun I guess.

Don't have the time to organise anything this year, sorry. But perhaps somebody else like the thought doing something like that ?

I would love to host a SIG like that, but I doubt I'll have time. I've got too many other things on my plate this year.

The fox panel will be back this year, apart from general talk about foxes (like previous times) I'll demonstrate a kinda new and affordable thingie wich makes it easy to find out about the foxes living in your neighbourhood. We will also focus on the subject of 'petfoxes', and if he makes it in time a certain fox will come and explain about his hard labour for trying to keep the foxes in Germany safe from guns, traps and snares, otherwise you'll hear it from me. And besides that, it would be a nice opportunity to get to know fellowfurries who share a great interest in sly vulpines.
The foxpanel will take place on friday at 14h, room 'Bonn'.
