Food, glorious food...?
« on: 11.06.2011, 20:19:17 »

Hey there!

Since this is the very first time that I'm going to EF, I have a FOOD question... because how is this planned? Is the food inclusive in the price, yes or no? and how about lunch/dinner/supper and stuff like that? How do I deal with the food consumption at EF?

Food and beverages are not included, however there will be reasonably priced food stands in the hotel lobby, there are some even cheaper restaurants in the direct vicinity of the hotel, and there is a mall just across the street with a large super market. But please note that you may not consume food or beverages brought in from outside in public areas of the hotel.

The hotel restaurant may seem expensive at first, but their food is really excellent and absolutely worth the price.

The food in the hotel lobby stands might be a bit pricy, but they make up to it with service (rare in Germany :P), which was awesome.
Lots of great food places at a reasonable price outside the hotel too.

Only in the hotelroom I presume?  :)

That is also not allowed.
And please keep in mind that it is not allowed to bring any electronic cooking devices like water heaters, microwaves and such, the hotel staff has to take them away due to fire protection laws.

I think this is a misunderstanding - You are absolutely correct concerning cooking devices, but I'm sure when he said "consume", he meant "eat" and not "cook".

You are correct! I'm a lousy cooker and I don't wanna haul a complete microwave/cooking gear in my suitcase LOL!  :D The hotel is NOT a camping! (if you know what I mean by that!)

So: no eating products taken from the supermarket inside the hotel...???

Okay, now before the confusion gets complete, the official summary:

  • You must not use water heaters, stoves, microwaves or other cooking implements in your own hotel room.
  • You must not eat or drink outside food inside the public hotel areas (lobby, bar, pool, etc)
  • You may eat and drink outside food inside your own hotel room.

Aaaaaaahhhh!! Now it is clear for me, THAT'S what I liked to know! Thanks Cheetah! Danke sehr! So if you want something to eat, do it in your hotelroom! (I can imagine that, or else the whole hotel would get messy! Quite understandable ofcourse) Nomming in your suit is very hard, especially for my suit.

Sorry, if my answer is too late, but if you are still interested, near hotel you can find big super market, where you can find food even cheaper then in hotel, and many restaurants.
And places like McDonalds and Subway, for sure^^
