Reminds me of that joke where a German guy tries to buy a loaf of bread at a bakery in England.
Only one slight problem, the only English word he knows is apple-pie. :D

Not really realistic (but anyway), since so far I've only met one German who did not speak English.
Actually nearly all kept on speaking English to me, ::) even though I (mostly) understand German.

We tend to be polite, so if you want us to speak German (like, if you want to practice yours), then please remind us.

When I was back in London I hoped I would receive regular feedback about my english (words, grammar but especially pronounciation). But those British were even more polite - even when I kept on reminding them to correct me they wouldn't do it...
