Alternative / overflow locations?
« on: 28.01.2013, 18:13:42 »

I just received my mail that I've been put on waiting list.
Now there are two main options.. (besides hoping that enough people cancel so I still get a room)
* book a room at another hotel myself
* hope / wait for the Eurofurence team to strike an overflow deal with one of the surrounding hotels

Could I/we get any information regarding any overflow deals being worked on?
On the one paw, I absolutely want to go to this year's EF.. but on the other paw I don't want to pay ~100Eur more for booking myself at e.g. the InterCityHotel than for the Maritim, just to hear a few days later that they've entered a cheaper overflow deal.

We are working on an overflow hotel offer and will announce it by e-mail to everyone on the waiting list, and here at the forum, of course. Please stay tuned.

for a first idea you can check last years announcement for prices here: https://forum.eurofurence.org/index.php/topic,3482.0.html

It will be at least similar this year, if not the same.
You might see that these special deals are more expensive (but still as good as the maritim prices) than the early booking rate at the Intercity Hotel Site. This is, because on the Intercity Hotel Site you have to prepay and it is not refundable.
With the Eurofurence Deal you can cancle and you pay after your stay at the departure.

Since some people wonder about the prices:
Please take in Mind that the intercity Hotel Prices are per Room, not per Person.

So a Standard double room from tuesday to monday - so early and late including - is 487,05 early bird online rate at the moment.
This is per room and including breakfast, so it would be € 243,25 per person total.

Last Years EF Special rate for this was 91 per night per room, so with early and late it would be € 546 per room which makes 273 per Person, also including the breakfast, refundable and including a city ticket for public transport.

hmmm.. so if I don't care about the "refundable" part and want to make sure I get a room for EF, I should book for myself /now/?
Or is there any estimate on the chance to get a room at the InterCity? I'm reg# ~1250.. and the last thing I'd want to see is an email that I've ended up on waiting list for the second hotel as well ;)

I cannot say about the overflow hotel, since i dont know how booked they are and i dont have an overview how many already booked there and/or will book there. So booking now or later would be your own risk.
But we will come out with the special rates soon, we're already working at it.
