Passport Question (expires October 2015)

I have an adult British passport. According to UK government advice, German passport control should not object to my entry.

Does anyone know this to be false?

Even if it is true, does anyone know of any other problems having just a few months left on my passport may cause?

I have no say on the official regulations, but I have used my passport that was about to expire in 8 months and 2 at the second occasion just fine with a hotel and a hostel.
I can think of no reason why they would reject a document that has not yet expired. Even if it is just a few days from expiring.

The information on that page is correct, as far as I can see. I think the "British passports extended by 12 months" part refers to passports that expire during your stay and get extended (opposed to "re-applied for") for another 12 months. For travel purposes, the passport should still be valid when you return to the UK, otherwise the British authorities might not let you back in... ;)

Similar rules apply for holders of European ID cards (in countries where these exist. No, your drivers licence isn't sufficient.)

In your case, your passport should still be good for EF23. ;)
