Now apart from the obviously not serious comments, we should close this thread with a serious and honest answer. Just in case ANYone thinks that EF would mock people that may or may not be honestly afraid of something.
Berlin Neukölln USED to be a rough area, mostly because there were lots of social-economical issues. People with no perspective. These days are over since quite a few years already. Politics pumped quite a bit of money into the area and things got a lot better. Unfortunately the rough reputation persisted.
Today Neukölln isn't better or worse than other metropol cities. Before EF moved to the Estrel, the core staff of our security service surveyed the area thoroughly, talked to the local police station, talked to furries living there, etc. They wanted to know what they were up against to better protect our attendees, as they fell for the very same claims and rumours you heard. In the end they found nothing dangerous or even remotely problematic.
In an all out attempt to see if there was any danger for any attendee traveling the area, a few of their team walked the streets at night, actually trying to look for trouble. The most dangerous thing they could find was a pensioner with a set of darts on his way home from the pub.
As a private person and in my role as chief of security I can assure you, that there is nothing dangerous or threatening about Neukölln. Quite the opposite. If the experience of the last years showed something, than that Neukölln (like the rest of Berlin) is so full of all kinds of crazy and alternative people, that we as furries fit in better than anyone in a business suit ever could.
