DIY electronics
« on: 19.08.2012, 09:28:25 »

I propose a "meet and greet" of furs that do some electronic as a hobby.

We could exchange ideas what is possible and how to use it in fur suiting, role playing or just general just because and for fun.

Topics could be:

sensors

actuators (see also thread about animatronics)

power sources

microcontrollers

data transmitting and communications

mechanics, building up, housings

sources of parts (buying stuff)

environmental issues (temperature, humidity)

software to use (CAD, simulators)

project planing

sources and exchange of information

your idea here

Is this meant only for people with a lot of knowledge on the topic or also for beginners?

Nice idea - I'm interested. Since the time table is fixed by now, we will have to find a nice place by ourselves for that though.

Do we expect more than 10 people showing up to this event ? If the whole group is no larger than 15 people, we might organise this electronics meet and greet in a 'room party'

Well, the convention is comming closer and closer.
Do we have any suggestions, when to meet?

Since i (an two others who had written here) don't have a lot of time because of my duty in the security team, i'll suggest to meet someday in the evening ours.

How abaout Thursday at 22:30?
On that evening are no big events except the "Girls Cafe" and a dance.

I am sorry I didn't care for anything. So thanks for setting the time. Do we have a location? I do not know much about the possibilities. I know some "gaming" rooms above the front entrance from last year. Maybe we have a chance there?

I prepared a little "brain storm" paper. Maybe it is of some use especially for "newbies". It is attached as PDF.

Hello Nobs,

SIG rooms are not avalible, any more.
So we have to folowing options:

Meet in on of the "gaming" rooms
The room "Halle" hosts the Game corner, the Room "Nürnberg" hosts the Warhamer40k Tabletop corner and acts as an overflow option for the game corner, if "Halle" is full.
Maybe we could find a place there, but it is not shure.

Meet at the "Panorama Lounge" (The terrace above the main entrance)
Meybe we can meet ther, but because we would have a dance on stage, it wouldn't be quiet there.

Make the meet&greet a room party
We could allways fallback to meet in one of our rooms.
Depends a bit on how many people will come to this event.

I'll suggest:
Meeting on Thursday at 22:30 in front of salon "Nürnberg".
Then we'll have a look at "Nürnberg" and "Halle", which is the next door, if we can find a place there.
Maybe nobody is playing Warhammer40k this evening.
If not, we can look for alternatives then.

As expected by the others I did not manage to put this here during the con  ;)

So: We had a little talk in one of the gamer's rooms in the evening and we planned to stay in contact through a mailing-list until we find a better solution.

So if you are interested to do the first step into this meta-project about developing and using electronic in the furry fandom please drop your ideas here.

So, I made the decission to start a Google Group:

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/pawtronics

This is my first try to start such a thing. So be gentle with me if something does not run smoothly from the beginning.
